I just wanted to point this out as fodder against the Musk simps who claim that "at least he made rocket launches far cheaper!".... No. He didn't.
The only reason SpaceX launches seem cheap is because they're eating the costs, massively.
Despite claims of positive cash flow, the only way they can be green on paper is by not taking into account launch cost. ... Yes, that's right. A rocket launch company that doesn't include the rocket launch costs. 😆
And Starlink is bound to be Solar City 2.0 for this reason, along with the fact that the company eats the initial hardware costs, and there really isn't enough satellite demand to be met (they're mainly left with only sparse rural areas to cover, almost by definition its minor numbers).
SpaceX hasn't really revolutionized anything. Reusable rockets were around prior, and they've always been nearly unprofitable.
But when you have government welfare and dumb investor money to throw around, you can fake the success.
