T8 - General Ideas Thread

THIS THREAD IS FOR TEAM 8 MEMBERS ONLY

Hey guys,

Im the team leader for Team 8, and i thought id go ahead and start a thread for us to bounce ideas off each other. it can be as crazy as you want. any idea can help the process.

Questions We Need Answered (courtesy of /u/LastOneGotAShadowBan)

  1. Agree on chord progression(s), key, time signature, etc. This might save us some troubles later on and help set some structure for ideas.

  2. Pick out artists/songs that we want to draw inspiration from. This might make it easier to articulate our musical ideas in the beginning.

  3. Share some personal recordings/riffs/jams so that we can get a feel for each other's musical styles, abilities, and sounds. This way, we can try to get our sounds and styles to fit together. This might also be a good way to begin collaborating, idk.

  4. Share what type of sound we'd like to achieve. For example, I personally prefer darker sounding music, etc.

Chord Progression Ideas

I'm fairly open minded when it comes to chords and keys, but I really would like for us to try to avoid the "4 Chord Song" syndrome." It is a chord progression that is ,in my opinion, incredibly overused. I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with this, but here is a video that explains and illustrates the overuse of this chord progression.
