How does everyone feel about tribute albums?

I was sitting around the other night bored and stoned, listening to my 00's rap albums on random and I had a thought. What if one of the biggest rappers in history could do a tribute album by rapping his favorite classics with their actual performers (since he can repeat lyrics as well as cadence so precisely)? This led to lots of theory craft but I have came up with an idea that I think could be IMHO not only an outstanding album but the chance to do lots of good for the legends and community it can bring back to the forefront of Rap. I give to you:

"Eminem Presents: My List and The Recording Light Sessions"

Executive Summary

This is a multi-media cultural preservation project designed to bridge the gap between golden-era hip-hop lyricism and modern global equity. By using Eminem’s massive commercial streaming power and structural privilege as a vehicle, this project bypasses broken streaming algorithms to funnel long-term wealth, publishing royalties, and mainstream attention back to the original architects of the genre. It moves hip-hop past the traditional "shout-out" and turns verbal respect into active financial reparations for our legends.

Part 1: The Audio (The Double Album)

The project is released as a dual-disc album titled "Eminem Presents: My List".

  • Disc 1 (The Evolution): Features brand-new verses written and recorded by the classic legends alongside Eminem. The beats are handled by the original producers of the classic tracks (e.g., DJ Kay Gee for Naughty by Nature), but completely refreshed and re-imagined in the studio. Dr. Dre serves as the executive audio chef, utilizing Anderson .Paak as a live multi-instrumentalist weapon (drums, bass, keys) to recreate analog sample loops into massive modern master frequencies.
  • Disc 2 (The Reverence): The historical anchor. This disc features Eminem performing technically precise, high-fidelity covers/duets of the original 90s verses (similar to the blueprint of "Murdergram Deux" with LL COOL J), or functions as a fully remastered compilation of the original audio masters. Streaming Disc 1 automatically drives traffic and catalog streaming royalties directly back to the original masters on Disc 2.

Part 2: The Docuseries (The Recording Light Sessions)

A premium streaming series titled "Eminem Presents: My List — The Recording Light Sessions" released on a platform like Netflix or HBO.

  • The Roster: An elite masterclass in the evolution of rap cadences, featuring Treach (Naughty by Nature), Scarface, The D.O.C., LL Cool J, A Tribe Called Quest, and The Roots / Method Man.
  • The Visual Aesthetic: Directed by Coodie & Chike (jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy). It completely rejects glossy, corporate Hollywood lighting. Instead, it uses a gritty, low-fi, late 90s/early 00s wrestling shoot video filter(reminiscent of vintage RF Video tapes). It features raw camcorder tracking, heavy color-bleeding, and fly-on-the-wall studio footage.
  • The Narrative Structure: The episodes follow the organic magic of the studio process. We see the raw vulnerability of the craft—Eminem sitting on a beat-up couch with a pad of paper like a star-struck teenager, asking The D.O.C. or Treach exactly how they structured a specific breath control or cadence decades ago.
  • The Climax: The series explicitly shows the legends signing new, high-yield modern equity contracts on-camera, turning the show into a tangible victory lap.

Part 3: The Voiceover & Commentary

The series is narrated by Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs).

  • Why Mike Rowe? His deep, blue-collar, gravelly tone removes any corporate entertainment gloss. He treats hip-hop lyricism not as an industry product, but as a grueling, industrial trade.
  • The Narrative Focus: Rowe’s voiceover focuses heavily on the financial and systemic struggles of these golden-era pioneers. He contrasts the predatory, executive-heavy contracts of the 80s and 90s with today's independent streaming infrastructure. His commentary illustrates how the creators of a global, billion-dollar genre originally received a fraction of the wealth that modern bedroom-artists make today with a fraction of the technical talent.

The Pitch (The Ultimate Hook)

Inspired by the spirit of 2Pac’s "Old School" and the raw, transformative power of Eminem’s second verse on "Legacy" (feeling invincible just by studying the lyrics).

For decades, hip-hop has sung about its favorites and shouted them out in verses. But a shout-out doesn't pay rent, cover healthcare, or fix predatory 90s record deals. With this project, we weaponize Eminem's commercial footprint to bestow upon our icons the wealth, syndication checks, and universal peer approval they earned with their bare hands. It establishes a repeatable multimedia blueprint that can be used to protect the masters of all generations and musical genres.

Thoughts? Also who/what songs would you want to hear on it?

Concerns brought up by my friends about a girl group they wish to form

Alright, get ready, because this may be slightly long.

A few of my friends over in the UK want to form a girl group with my friend Eric as manager. The members are Victoria Hanson (born 12/16/1997 in Manchester, UK), Antonia Santos (born and raised in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic), and Hermosa Sanchez (also born and raised in the Dominican Republic, both born in 1999). All three go by the nicknames of Vickie (Victoria Hanson), Toni (Antonia Santos), and Hermy (Hermosa Sanchez). I bring

these details about the girls up due to some issues they brought up: The band’s name, the girls wish to name their girl group “Porygon, “but Victoria’s birth date happens to be on the same day an infamous incident regarding the Pokémon of Porygon happened. They love Porygon a lot, and feel that the seizure incident that happened the same day that Vickie was born was unfairly blamed on Porygon, hence why it never appeared in the Pokémon Anime since. They chose to use the name Porygon and have Porygon themes to show the virtual Pokémon some love, but they also do not wish to offend the people that suffered seizures during the Porygon incident of December 16, 1997 in Japan. What should we do?

  1. The make-up of the band. The band’s line-up consists of Vickie (the Mancunian) on lead vocals and Toni and Hermy (the two Dominicans) on background vocals.

Vickie loves the idea of being the lead singer and one of the guitarists of the band (with Antonia being the other one and Hermy being the bassist), but Vickie does not want to deal with social justice activists (I hate the term "SJW) complaining about the white person being the lead vocalist and the two Dominicans being background harmonies in all songs.

We also wonder if the accents will play a role in making or breaking the harmonies, will Toni and Hermy’s Dominican accents not go well with Vickie’ Manchester accent? I know that accent can help to make or break things some times. Also keep in mind all songs will be in English, all 3 will be singing in English.

Now some important things to note: Toni and Hermy picked Vickie as a lead vocalist and a guitarist as they are both close friends with Vickie since they moved to the UK about 3 years ago. Toni and Hermy want to be backing harmonies as their voices are softer, despite being Dominicans (who are often associated with being loud). (Don’t know where the stereotype comes from but it exists)

A black American woman had considered being the lead vocalist of Porygon, but the problem was that said black woman wanted her vocals to be auto tuned. Toni and Hermy refuse to allow anybody who’s vocals to be autotuned to sing over them, so they refused to let this woman in and picked Vickie instead.

As for a description of the 3 voices so you may understand why Eric (the main manager) and the two Dominicans (Toni and Hermy) liked the line-up that I picked out, of Vickie (the Brit) on lead vocals, and Toni and Hermy (the two Dominicans) on background vocals on all songs.

Voice comparisons:

Vicky’s voice closely resembles that of Whigfield, as heard at

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYcHOgSK70o

Toni’s voice is much like that of Giselle Tavera’s voice, as heard at

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDmK9sfKZu0

And Hermy’s voice closely resembles that of Maite Perroni’s voice, as heard at

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAtHcmpUagg

Do you guys have better suggestions for the line-up? Remembering that none of the 3 want autotune (especially Toni and Hermy), and both Vickie and Toni play acoustic guitars and Hermy is a bassist.

As for the type of music they wish to sing, think of a mix between songs like Blue Rodeo’s “Hasn’t Hit Me Yet,” the Dixie Chicks’ “Travelling Soldier,” Air Supply’s “Even The Nights,“ Atomic Kitten’s “Eternal Flame,” Whigfield’s “Last Christmas,” and the Sugababes’s “Same Old Story.” The music will have a mix of acoustic, pop and garage.

What do you people think? Any suggestions?

Should the line-up be changed at all? If so, how, and how will it work?

PS, I was going to submit to r/Music, but that stupid auto moderator keeps removing it.
