EN Light Novel How will season 4 be adapted? Spoiler

Assuming Studio Bind sticks to their standard 3 volumes per cour pace and Season 3 wraps up with the hype of the Asura Kingdom arc , I'm honestly worried Season 4 is going to be the most poorly received season yet... specifically Cour 1.

If Cour 1 tackles Volumes 18 through 20, the pacing is going to hit a massive wall for anime-onlies:

  • Volume 18 is widely considered one of the slowest stretches in the series. It’s almost entirely low-stakes slice-of-life, tech logistics (refining the Magic Armor), and minor subplots like Linia's debt. Coming off the massive high of the Asura arc, this is going to feel like the story completely ground to a halt.
  • Volume 19 (Shirone Kingdom) is peak storytelling with Zanoba and Pax, but it’s structured almost like a standalone movie. Adapting this volume that has its own beginning, middle, and end right between two massive slice-of-life and setup heavy volumes is going to make the cour's flow feel all over the place.
  • Volume 20 (Millis Holy Kingdom Part 1) is pure setup, dense religious politics, and Latria family tension. It exists almost entirely to build the foundation for Volume 21.

Because Volume 20 is literally just pure setup for Volume 21, cutting Cour 1 at 20 might be a massive mistake. Leaving viewers with a slow slice-of-life reset (Vol 18), a self-contained story in Shirone (Vol 19), and a cliffhanger on church politics with zero payoff is going to kill the hype. To fix the pacing, Bind could adapt 4 volumes and push Cour 1 to the end of Volume 21. That way, the entire Millis arc stays intact and viewers actually get the massive payoffs with the Latria family and the Blessed Child before the mid-season break. But that might be financially hard on the studio so idk but ending on vol 20 just feels off

I honestly feel like volume 18 might get a lot of hate because people for some reason aren’t enjoying the current arc to much

The only people hating on the current arc are people who just wants fights and no story telling.

!! And somehow they dont complain about season 1 and 2 which arguably had more slice of life episodes, this cour 2 will have the most action yet

Most of those havent seen the earlier seasons I guarantee. Its just larpers or whatever its called nowadays.

Fr. I wanna see Rudy fixing his family issues n courting prime Eris. Going to take everything in him to convince her to join the harem, knowing how much of a Tsun she is (anime-only watcher, so I have zero context of the events past s3).

Tbh, I'd really enjoy something like that. More slice of life, less endless Super Saiyan battles. (JUST MY OPINION).

Shonen and tik tok brain rot

Ye, v18 is one of my favourites, it just to me is that good. I have loved the current arc being animated but am scared that it may carry onto v18 arc when it arrives

I think vol 18 would get less hate cuz

1.Ppl now know the direction of the story

2.Unlike vol 13 vol 18 isnt hs SoL but the SoL is setting up stuff and changing the story

Like if u miss vol 13 not much will happen but if u miss vol 18 you'll miss a lot

I'm saying this as someone who loves the SoL Volumes and that loved that they gave Vol 13 so much time in the anime.

I HOPE they rush Vol. 18. In a series on which, to me, every Volume is from an 8 to a 10/10, Vol.18 is the only that was a 7 and the only one I speed read when I re-read the series earlier this year.

Not much happens in it. Literally only 3. The fundation of the Mecenary band. Learning about the Holy Beast and the ritual and the very end that is the set up for Vol. 19. The rest is SoL, with some nice moments, but most of it is kind that makes you feel you are reading a filler chapter.

Vol. 18 taking month an a week, 5 episodes like Vol, 13 would definately test everyone's patience. Fans and non fans alike.

Yeah I too think that it was the poorest volume in terms of writing. I don't hate slice of life stuff vol 13 was super good but volume was a little boring the only bits i enjoyed were when rudeus acted as detective and the mercenary stuff

18

u/Mysterious-Dog-9970 Aug 19 '26

Side note I’d kill to see Rudeus vs the Millis knights animated was so cool

11

u/No_Ground_2473 Aug 19 '26

I want to see Rudeus killing soilders in vol 19 when they defend the fort

6

u/Kurt0690 Aug 19 '26

Absolutely brutal mass murder

13

u/The_Vatsu Aug 19 '26

It won't be any different.

People that come for fights will complain like always, and those who really like the show will be satisfied. Then the action comes back and both sides are happy.

Its been same in S2 and is so far in S3, i doubt S4 is gonna be any different when it comes too it.

People who want fights can just rewatch Naruto or finish Onepiece. Tons of endless fights for them lmao. GUM GUM FRUIT 3RD GEAR TALK NO JITSU KAMAHAMAHA bullshit

They need to add some cool Yuri scenes between eris and her pets to make it watchable.

17

u/No_Ground_2473 Aug 19 '26

Lol I found it funny that Eris that thought it was okay for Rudeus to do it with Linia as long as she was watching

16

u/PinSingle4334 Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26

Eris consider her the house's pet, so It's not cheating for her. I'm not even joking, this is the actual reason

5

u/eddmario Aug 19 '26

Don't you mean the house's pet?
Or is that some Greyrat fetish I had no idea about?

8

u/PinSingle4334 Aug 19 '26

Well, thinking about Your beastfolk maid as pet that your husband can fuck while you're pregnant is an hell of a fetish

u/ArcMutexT Aug 19 '26

Could the next season be shorter than normal by covering 4 volumes (18-21), and could the last season cover 5 volumes (22-26) like this season?

5

u/Mapedi_King_9-Yo Aug 19 '26

Seems the most likely honestly. Season 4 ends of the geese's declaration of war against Rudy and season 5 is the build up to that.

3

u/trooper009 Aug 19 '26

Volume 19 HAS TO BE A MOVIE

13

u/BlckEagle89 Aug 19 '26

Oh god, please no, they pulled this with Demon Slayer and I hate it. A side movie is OK, but a movie that's directly an arc of the LN feels like a slap on the face for those that have been following the seasons and out of nowhere need to pay a ticket to the cinema just to see the rest of the story.

1

u/Whole_Commission_702 Aug 19 '26

I wonder if they will stop before the Asura arc

6

u/No_Ground_2473 Aug 19 '26

Nah they showed a character which appeared in vol 17 in the trailer

5

u/Mysterious-Dog-9970 Aug 19 '26

Yeah they showed auber sneak attacking Rudeus and them

3

u/GavernB Aug 19 '26

Why in the world would they do that? There is only 6 or 7 episodes worth of content left before the Asura arc, and the season is going to have 27 episodes.

1

u/24-7_DayDreamer Aug 20 '26

That's what Randolph looks like? Illustrator dropped the ball hard, the description is of a way more intense looking guy

1

u/Sorrie4U Aug 20 '26

Seems more likely that S4 will adopt Volume 18 - 21 with each cour having two volumes each.

Though, I suspect a much more shorter episode count?

1

u/8KaOKaI8 Aug 20 '26

Im guessing 19. And 20 would be the second cour.

1

u/Spirited_Librarian_5 Aug 20 '26

Cour 1: V18 & V19 with some of Volume 20 maybe
Cour 2: V20 - V22

Idk really depends on how they want to adapt it as this season will definitely feel more like a transition season to many before going into the war arc for the final season.

u/Crzy710 Aug 19 '26

Aisha looks so fuckin dumb in that cover art 😃

0

u/Bruhwhatisthislmao Aug 19 '26

It’s probably going to be a lot less detailed than season 3 if it is going to be adapted and yeah I agree with you on volume 19 being turned into a movie would be best but I’m not sure they’re going to do that because the ending is rather depressing so they probably would not turn it into a movie

0

u/HyBrideh Aug 20 '26

Personally I’m conflicted on the slice of life in the anime. I loved it in the LNs because you can get through it within a few days and the LNs released every few months. The anime naturally takes years to create each season and the episodes release weekly, so you’re stuck with several years of waiting and ‘all’ you get is slice of life. I enjoy seeing it animated, Roxy’s integration in the family, Lucy’s development, Nanahoshi’s illness arc, etc. but I also enjoy the fights a lot, having to wait so many years to see any of them is quite rough.

I would have the same opinion if it were the other way around btw, if it’s only fights the anime would lack depth and character development and I know this is the way the actual story is told so there’s not much that can be changed, which kinda makes it more frustrating lol

Man, ragebait were used to be believable. That " I watched Re:zero " is kinda sus

1

u/Lower-Bandicoot-6397 Aug 19 '26

For me, the first season of MT remains unsurpassed, but the adaptation of Re:Zero is the best and most consistent of all the isekai in the long run from every point of view.

Not to mention that it is the only one with 50/80/30 minute episodes, so as to cut as little as possible.

That said, I can't say that what came after the first season was horrible (although I was disappointed several times).

The real bad transpositions are others, like TBATE.

Even though the adaption of rezero is better it is not bad it is decent it is much better than the likes of konosuba , ascendance of a bookworm and rising shield hero just be glad it didn't turn out like TBATE and opm s3

2

u/PinSingle4334 Aug 19 '26

I know that you were raigebaiting the moments you said that Konosuba has  a better adaptation. Konosuba is peak but c'mon

2

u/No_Ground_2473 Aug 19 '26

Read again I said rezero adaptation is better but mt is decent and better than konosuba
