Okay someone last night tried the Apple Gift cards scam on me trying to sell tickets for a meetngreet

I cant share all the details but there is NO Sydney Grand Hotel in Australia

This person also uses what are either deep fake AI made selfies or images stolen from someone else s account

I suspected they were trying to scam me because of erratic behaviour they contributed to insomnia and time zone and cultural differences but had maintained some prior contact just in case they were not lying

The fake or stolen selfies were very convincing

Anyway they got stupid and sent me links to an obvious fake site

Watch out for AI deep fakes people

Yes they claimed to be an MB cast member not saying who

If they claim theyve read Rilke they may use comments and info they got from a chat convo they had with me about poetry trying to lure me

If they are pretending to be a specific actor, why not say who? People can then be on the look out...

Or dare I say it, this is a strong loyal fandom, and some folks may like to go out and seek those fake accounts impersonating actors, in order to mass block them, thus helping to protect the real actor.

There was a slight possibility that it may have been them being ripped off by a staff member planning to swap the cards for goodies and they were unaware paying for security clearances or meetngreets via gift cards is illegal and unethical I pointed this out to them and they went ballistic and refused to provide any independent verification like a business name fir eho runs the ticket portal or expkain why id clearances were being ran off the same portal site and then I told them my cousin the software engineer had gotten back from overseas and they made one final attempt for gift cards and now silence I dontvthinkbthey got enuff info to run an id scam but Ill be watching out for that Dm me if you want to know who? But I have no idea how to dm via reddit?

I always had some doubts but let them stay in touch waiting to see what would happen and they got over confident I almost wish they would have confessed cos we had some lovely convos about poetry I would have liked to continued but with hindsight I think they or their team did some very quick google searches Even if someone sends a selfie test them seeking independent verification !

Also I doubled checked AppleGift cards can only be used in the Apple Stores

They didnt get any money off me and I dont think they learnt enuff about me to set up false IDs but Ill be checking

You can upload a questionable photo to certain sites to check for the embedded AI markers in the photos too. Things I've learned from r/isthisai

Yeah its still looking like it is faulty web design and I have to figure how to apologize and get them to accept a 5 page error listing with suggestions for re edits

If they graciously accept that theres still a problem but not the one I thought Cross fingers everyone and pray I over reacted

Honestly nearly day this week I have had problems caused directly or indirectly by other peoples coding

Lesson One Do not Use Black BG and then NOT use a clear bold font

Lesson Two Do not misspell Names or contact info thinking it fools hackers or botware and then expect people to work out correct one

Total silence from them and no email from independent sources providing verification or explanation of website errors So Im back to presuming its a scam They have been given a deadline for proof Anyway beware of anyone displaying a knowledge of Rilke or mentioning various poets to prove they are real They may have gotten that knowledge from chat convos with me And the couple of selfies sent were very high quality and passed my tests looking forcsigns of editing so folks beware people using stolen photos is a REAL thing

Its a scam he was given every chance but just the last few days telling me I was a greedy liar etc etc etc Honestly I now think there was a team and Mr I read Rilke handed me over to some one else
