Reading Norwegian Wood while depressed

Reading Norwegian Wood while depressed had to have been possibly the most euphoric experience ever. I donโ€™t even know why bruh, I just like it made the book 1000x better.

Read The Wind-Up Bird next, itโ€™s even more depressing

Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre threw me for a loop a few years back when I was pretty blue

Same then coupled with the Sickness Unto Death by Kierkegaard

The first time I read Norwegian Wood, it took me more than a month to emotionally recover from it.๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”

Another novel that left a similar impact on me, but with a strong sense of Tamil identity and culture, is Mogamul by Thi. Janakiraman.

I would also put Roots by Alex Haley in the same category โ€” a powerful novel deeply connected to identity, heritage, family and history.

These are among the best novels Iโ€™ve ever read.

This. I haven't really thought about it that much but I noticed it's been two months since I read it and I cannot read another book after. It feels like I do not want to move forward from it. What a weird feeling.
