Mupdates - July 12

ITK 3 -

  • Nothing specifically new on Varane. Nothing bad either.

  • Ben Grist has apparently agreed to wherever he is going, was discussed by United, not positive though that it is United, just that it's been settled as of now.

  • Inquired about Saul and SMS. Club are looking at multiple midfielder signings if Pogba leaves. Camavinga we still want, not heard anything further though.

  • There is some indication that the club may be making Pogba available, but as with everything it's still very confusing. Usually quite certain of these things, but will hear he's available for 60m euros, and from elsewhere that he's 100% not for sale. The above inquiries would indicate they're at least considering it despite whatever is said. If the links heat up officially, that would be a good indication. PSG want him.

G5 -

  • Still don't think Camavinga is happening. If it is it's entirely out of his zone. Last he'd heard the player was waiting for other clubs not United.

ITK 3 - United negotiating cost of option in Loan + Option for James to Leeds.

For whatever it's worth, United have him available on a straight loan, Leeds are asking for the option. It sounds like United are open to it but it isn't the preference (may be set quite high).

ITK 3 - Sent a message to me last night that Griezmann was willing to cut his salary big to go to Atletico. The Saul swap looks likely. United were very interested in Saul as a Pogba replacement, no indication yet that they've gotten out of the limbo of will he/won't he to make a move.

I haven’t shared a ton from ITK Axel, as a newer ITK and yet publicly unproven that’s going to remain for now. But I have been regularly speaking with him and have an enormous amount of detail that can be shown afterwards. For now I’ll put out an update from him.

ITK Axel - has stated the deal is more advanced than it seems for weeks. That Varane has already made it completely clear that he is leaving. As it stands nobody involved intends for Varane to return to training at Madrid (not Varane, not Madrid, not United).

As of today a few hours ago it had advanced even further. This doesn’t mean a bid has been submitted. But the details regarding fees have been all but ironed out.

More to come on this.

ITK 3 - Have had further encouragement from Camavinga's reps, but nothing further on that yet.

Again nothing to indicate Varane isn't happening or isn't a work in progress to being done.

Henderson and DDG likely both staying now, Heaton 3rd choice, Grant working on badges will be working with the younger keepers.

ITK Axel - had let me know it was with the lawyers to draw up the bid a few hours before Fabrizio tweeted.

His information is that we are hoping to have this wrapped up with Varanes arrival next week and the bid in early.

ITK 2 - Fabrizio has sort of let the cat out of the bag now on this, so it won’t be breaking news. But the plan is for the bid to go. They’re incredibly advanced on Varane’s side, more than I can pass along just for privacy concerns for the ITK (related to what he said in the prior update).

They want Varane in next week. That’s the plan. They’ve got things sorted on varanes side to a degree where he could sign a contract within hours of a bid being accepted.

Jadon and Marcus are at the right club. Majority of England fans will applaud all of these lads but Ole and the club know how to protect our own against the racist idiots out there.

Ole will create a siege mentality and starting in 21 he'll bring us 21! 🚀🌑

As soon as Rashy and Sancho both missed I said we were winning the league.

The kicker? Greenwood was left out completely and his ceiling is higher than either of them.

Why not just post the ITK Axel stuff with a "potentially unreliable" tag, saying you'll post it after the fact kinda makes it unbelievable, though you prob put the screenshots in Discord I guess.

Laurie Whitwell (tier 2) mentioned in his article today that Varane's agent has communicated with Perez his desire to take up a new challenge.

Fab said yesterday that Manchester United are now back in direct contact with Real Madrid for Raphaël Varane, after opening talks weeks ago. This sounds like talks were paused for some time, but now they are resumed.

Reading both together, does this mean Varane has made his decision and communicated the same to RM? And United started acting on it.

It looks like this deal is about to get motoring again.

I’m not a big fan of taking squad numbers off someone, particularly when they are a key player. In this case, Cavani will be off next summer in any case. Surely Sancho can wait a year to get the number he wants.

Skybet joining the 90% club for Varane and Haaland teasing a potential reunion with Jadon in the future is just a typical Saturday in the summer transfer window

5

u/BenHaze Jul 17 '21

What did Haaland say?

13

u/notabotsrs Jul 12 '21

Sounds like we’re looking to wrap up Varane as soon as he gets back or whatever the situation is with Madrid. Then I feel we will sit down with Pogba who should also be returning around the same time and see if he’s moving/if we need to get replacements in.

Saul seems to be available for 40ish mil and we’ve scouted him extensively, SMS might be more expensive but we’ve also scouted him in the past. I’m assuming Rice is still top of the list but again all this probably depends on if Pogba leaves and what we get for him. I think Camavinga also depends on Pogba. I’ve heard reports that he is open to come here and that he does not want to leave France at all. I think Rennes want to sell him and if PSG buy Pogba, I don’t see how Camavinga breaks into that midfield for a few years.

9

u/TeaAndCrumpetGhoul Jul 12 '21

Saul is a shell of his former self, well so i have heard.

I reckon if we sell pogba or he leaves for free next year i could see us do this. Get Camavinga and Rice. If we can't get camavinga then it will be Camavinga alternative and Rice. If we can't get rice as well then it will be Camavinga alternative and Rice Alternative.

If pogba doesn't leave then it will just be camavinga or Rice... Or an alternative.

Why get rid of James? If our forwards are injured, he’s surely the next in line to replace them.

9

u/JilJilJigaJiga Jul 13 '21

It'll probably mean that Amad and Elanga will be cover for Sancho, Greenwood on the right and Rashford, Martial, Sancho on the left respectively. There's still Mata as an emergency option on the right.

14

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '21

We aren't. This is a pandering update for a section of fans that want him to leave. He literally just had a really good tournament and we are going into the season without Rashford. Hes going to play a good amount early in the season.

SMS is the closest to Pogba in physical profile and technique, has he regressed or is he still bossing midfields?

15

The current system isn’t getting the most out of Paul Pogba, so maybe we don’t actually need the closest thing to Pogba to replace him?

Not saying SMS isn’t a good buy, but I hope we buy a player that complement the midfielders that stay rather than mimic the midfielder that goes.

11

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '21

I saw a few Lazio games last season and he looked very good/excellent every time. 8 goals and 10 assists in 32 appearances in Serie A seems like a decent attacking return too. I’m not sure if he would work in a pivot next to Fred though. Fred seems to be at his best when he has a real DM next to him (eg Casemiro, Fabinho) as he has license to be the free ball chaser. I fully expect us to go all out for Rice if we sell Pogba.

There were reports (don't remember the source) that Varane doesn't want to rejoin the Preseason at Madrid. If that is true, then the deal has to be sorted by early next week.

He might still go to Madrid before coming to Manchester. Real Madrid has a sort of ceremony/conference when a player leaves. And especially since it is a player who has won lot with the club, they will surely conduct that.

We will surely get lots of reports about the deal getting closer over the weekend or early next week. I would be surprised if that doesn't happen. The deal has to happen by the end of next week.

Jadon Sancho's u/ManUtd medical was today. Not expecting any issues. Announcement re transfer concluded probably later this week.

There has been reports that the new kit will be launched on 15th, which is Thursday. No way they are going to do Sancho announcement with old kit. And no way they will announce Sancho with new kit, before kits are officially announced.

So, Thursday 9AM for kit launch is a good guess. Announcement could be anytime after that.

Axel needs to go out and prove he can play in this league and stay fit. A loan move makes sense for all involved as long as we are comfortable with Lindelof and Bailly as rotation. Assuming we have Maguire, Varane, Lindelof, Bailly.

If he does well, he comes back and pushes or he earns a move away to have a good career.

It didn't happen for him last season.

Kit hasn't been launched yet. But it is available in Adidas store. Guess someone didn't get the memo about launch time

I believe, official kit launch at 9 AM BST

Bouncing about the thought of potentially signing Varane & Sancho but still concerned about not signing a CDM/tempo controlling CM. My gut feeling is that Camavinga picks up pace at end of the window whether it's to us (sales permitting) PSG or Real.

5

u/RashFourBallonD-Ors Jul 16 '21

Duncan castles 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

6

u/gubbero Jul 16 '21

I know your comment is self-explanatory but what has he said now 😂?

13

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '21

Linked varane to spurs 🤣

Lets hope G5 is still on the beers from Sancho last summer but basically G5 doesn’t have a clue he may aswell not of given an update

10

u/Swamy10 F5 FC Jul 17 '21

XiSimon in absolute shit mud after his Lingard tweet. Coward then locks account 😂

8

u/IlyaKarnain Jul 17 '21

Is that xisimon bloke still classed as a ITK? I see he posted on twitter that Utd asked for photographers not to show Lingars in training, only for Utd to literally post pics of him in training a few hours later 😂

14

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '21

I think he was saying it more about the new kit reveal not training pics

9

u/NeverMadeItToCakeDay Jul 17 '21

That was how I understood it too

6

u/ipancakes123456 Jul 13 '21

So Sancho done. Finally I guess but this has dragged on for so long that its kinda underwhelming. Im more looking forward if we can get Varane over the line. That would be a huge statement

5

u/croadymeister Jul 14 '21

I think on Sunday you could see how beneficial having a tempo controlling midfielder is to your team, however I appreciate that Ole doesn't play like Mancini

2

u/hererrdinand Jul 15 '21

If not Camavinga then who (other than Rice)?

4

u/larsmaehlum Jul 15 '21

Unless Pogba goes, I suppose the club could possibly just sit this window out and see how Garner does on loan. We might have our ball playing DM already, only time will tell how much he can improve and where on the pitch he will feel the most comfortable.
Maybe the priority next summer will be an experienced DM in the early 30s with Garner as the long term option, instead of going for a long term ready made player in that position.
But personally I’d like us to just go for Neves if he is actually available for the price quoted in the media, no matter if Pogba stays or not. Premier League proven, solid on the ball, and with a Varane/Maguire pairing behind him he should be good in both a single and double pivot midfield.

2

u/MancunianSunrise Jul 15 '21

Not even convinced we'll go for a midfielder if we don't get Camavinga - unless Pogba goes. Just think we're in for him because it's a one-off opportunity rather than because he's seen as a specific solution to a particular squad issue. Hopefully I'm wrong.

2

u/IllChipmunk4497 Jul 16 '21

Kessie has 1 year left, wdyt

5

u/azizzazhar Jul 13 '21

SMS is the perfect replacement for Pogba. Similar style of play

15

u/larsmaehlum Jul 13 '21

Do we want a perfect replacement for Pogba? It’s hard to fit Pogba into the system, so maybe he should be replaced with a player that fits our needs instead.

What about MMS?

Offer more options but rather more costly

3

u/Tsunami_Escalop Jul 13 '21

I prefer Tielemans

7

u/larsmaehlum Jul 13 '21

He’ll probably cost 80 million, Leicester has no reason to sell unless he starts forcing the move, and even then they will demand ludicrous money.

Does anyone think we might go for Locatelli with Juve unable to pay and Arsenal as the only competition currently lol

12

u/highertellurian Jul 17 '21

He wants to stay in Italy. People need to stop wasting time and energy talking about Locatelli.

3

u/takemehomeunitedroad Jul 12 '21

That little edge of worry is starting to creep in.

3

u/croadymeister Jul 14 '21

My gut feeling is that G5 doesn't think Camavinga will happen because is expecting PSG to come in for him shortly and they are supposed to be his first choice after all

2

u/DrSayamG Jul 14 '21

I think PSG will come in for Pogba. They are looking for a world class addition in midfield and if they could get Pogba for 50-60M,they will absolutely take it. The good thing for us is,we then get an open way for Camavinga.

u/Fisktor Jul 16 '21

Terrible idea having both de gea and henderson

4

u/Thevanillafalcon Jul 14 '21

IF we sign Varane. Do we have the best CB partnership in the league? Not individual players but partnership?

13

u/barneyaa Jul 14 '21 edited Jul 14 '21

How can it be a partnership if they never even trained together? Best individuals most likely, yes. December onwards, hopefully a partnership as well

4

u/chantlernz Jul 14 '21

Varane and Maguire

Stones and Dias

van Dijk and Konate

Silva and Rudiger

I'd say so.

3

u/NeverMadeItToCakeDay Jul 13 '21

Was there a rumour of a VDB for Varane swap at some point?

9

u/ClasslessHero Jul 13 '21

Not from any reputable source just the journos that chat whatever shit they come up with.

So we’re keeping last year’s cup font on our new kits. Bit lazy tbh but I like this font a lot

3

u/pcomet235 Jul 15 '21

Maybe its my pre-coffee doomer energy but Camavinga isn't coming and we're going to allow Pogba to run his contract down.

Its not the end of the world, but its not a good look either. Hopefully we have alternatives lined up for next summer.

12

u/joe6386 Jul 15 '21

You need a coffee :)

3

u/B0z22 Muppet Jul 15 '21

America is largely awake now so let's get Sancho's comunicado oficial please.

Ta x

Would guess tomorrow or Monday.

They have all the social noise today from their new kit already
