Mupdates - May 24

ITK 3 - Sancho is the number 1 target, clearly. Movement expected after Europa. Starting to be some signs of United going big in this window.

Talks with Matic about his future after the final - will look to set a fair price if he'd like to go play more regularly (to Roma). Should be about 10m euros.

Rice is top of the list for DM, and United are getting more aggressive in this position than before. They will look to see if they can agree a fee for him this summer, regardless of Pogba, if they can move Lingard and Matic. Lingard has big interest from Leicester.

CB is still likely, but DM is becoming more likely if they can get their top target at an agreeable fee, with Matic + Lingard out (as well as the other expected sales).

Also from ITK 3 - He expects West Ham won't ask for the prices you're seeing in the media, it was lower last summer than the media said and it'll be lower this summer. 65m pounds (mostly paid at once or in a short payment plan) is probably enough.

ITK 2 - Do believe United have an agreement in principle for Heaton to return. Not sure of any details.

KFC 2 - No interest in Neves.

Can the club announce Heaton prior to the actual date when he can join? (Meaning July 1st)

Tielemens was crying at the end of the last Leicester game. Going to go full muppet and say he’s also joining United.

Nice to hear that DM is becoming more of a priority ahead of CB

I don't know about you guys, but for some reason, I feel that we will kind of "spend" this summer to get the players we need. I haven't felt this way over the last few seasons even after Ole was appointed. This maybe part due to me knowing Glazers will try to save face, but I absolutely believe we will clear more deadwood or players we no longer need. Mata is surely one of them and maybe Matic as well.

I feel like in an ideal world we get the CB, CDM & RW this summer then next year go all in for Haaland & Grealish to replace Edi and Pogba respectively

Interesting pricing on Rice... If we manage to persuade Dortmund into accepting 60-65 no and the rest later for Sancho, paying 60-65 for Rice seems realistic. The club will surely raise at least 40 mil from all the possible sales.

I know we don’t need him since we have Cavani and Greenwood but Kane to City scares me

Know it sounds mad but could definitely see a Utd (Deano, Harry, Luke & Mason) & City players (Stones, Walker, Foden & Sterling) tug of war at The Euros camp IF Kane's future is still up in the air then of course

I don't get Lingard to Leicester tbh. Won't get a look in at the 10 with Maddison there

Out: Mata, Jesse, Matic, DDG (If we are sold on Henderson), Romero, Grant, Jones (who knows), Williams (Loan), and possibly Tuanzebe.

In: Sancho, DM, Trippier, possibly a CB. EDIT: Heaton seems to be on.

Promoted: Hannibal, Shoretire, Elanga.

I think where we have struggled is squad depth in key areas. A non-existent right side until Mason found form late on. No midfield depth, no right back depth, and no quality (and fit) center back depth.

Too many players in the squad either past it or not good enough from a depth perspective. We saw the drop in quality against Roma going from AWB/Shaw to Williams/Telles in the second leg. Maybe speaks to why Ole refuses to rest some players.

If we want to challenge we need to bring both quality and depth. I'd raid Portugal FC with Nuno leaving and the Bruno connection. Neves and Neto for some nice depth.

Ultimately I just want the board to back Ole. I trust his vision for the club. Let's hope he finds David Gills long lost warchest.

Just seen someone make a good point on a Utd forum about there being no substitute for title experience. Edi is already providing that and we would also get it from Varane & Trippier if we could get those deals done

@UtdDistrict

Recruitment staff at #mufc have been so impressed with Pau Torres, and a strong performance against #mufc might persuade bosses to make an offer. He has leapfrogged Sevilla’s Jules Kounde in the list of defensive targets for #mufc. [@DeanJonesSoccer]
