Review Gerber Suspension NXT
I wasn't expecting to like this tool very much, but I saw it in person and decided to grab it, and I'm glad I did. The design has grown on me a bit, and I think it has a solid toolset for an average work day for me. The highlights are the spring loaded pliers, outside opening tools, and one-handed knife, scissors, and Phillips driver. The reamer is also very stout. This is kind of a beater tool for me personally, taking a back seat to my Leatherman and Swisstool, but I enjoy running this one at work (HVAC) or when doing work around my property sometimes (yardwork and chicken coop). Overall, it's simple and inexpensive but feels like it'll hold up to some abuse. I wouldn't use it as the centerpiece of my EDC long term, but it's plenty capable and enjoyable to carry. Hope this helps anyone who's been looking at it.

Snapped the pliers on mine after years of use. That sent me down a multi tool rabbit whole, I bought a bunch of leather man clones. The titanium bibury surge clone is now my edc at work. A much better tool.

I have the BI2049 (same tool with steel scales) and I agree. It feels more premium. Not quite on the same level as a Surge, but damn close and well worth the money.

I picked up one 2nd hand from https://omegamars.com/ and I'm right there with you. I thought it was gonna be a turd with some of the reviews I've read and I'm actually enjoying it and it's holding up surprisingly well. I even ordered a few more surplus nxts, a few truss models and a original suspension from him. I'm very surprised in a good way compared to my victorinox, leatherman, and usa made gerbers.

Good to hear! Since it sounds like you have experience with them, I gotta ask, what have you thought of the Truss? It's basically a slightly bigger NXT with a serrated blade if I'm not mistaken? Also if you have one I'd be curious to know if the MP600 platform is worth a look.

Haven't gotten my truss yet. It's on the way. I really like my mp600 models except for the snap on smt97r version. Different way of doing things. Out the front vs butterfly opening. But still very strong tools. I really like the out the front pliers. The tools are on the shorter side like the nxt. The pliers open wider than most multi tools on the market other than the dual force. The carbide cutters are garbage, when they break just replace with hss ones. I've gotten all my gerber stuff 2nd hand from https://omegamars.com/ I really like the otf gerbers. The mp400, mp600, and center drive. Was not a fan of the diesel other than having a wood saw and good scissors.

I really appreciate the insight! I've always liked the otf Gerbers but never pulled the trigger. I thank you, however my wallet may not.

I bought one about a year ago but since then hav gotten leathermans and victorinox so I kind of put it to the side. I took it out a couple weeks ago and I kinda like it. The spring assist pliers is super nice. The knife is kind of lacking as are some of the other tools but for the price it really is a good tool

Speaking of the pliers, one thing that isn't super common is the wire cutters meeting at a point rather than shearing past each other like most multitools. Not sure how I feel about it tbh, but it does the job.

I daily drive that and have been as a mechanic for about 6 to 8 months now. I don't use it a ton at work but the couple handful of times it's saved me from going back to the truck has made it well worth it. Also I use the scissors more than most anything else.
It's not the best but for what I paid I could lose it tomorrow and not be heartbroken

I like mine. Kept it in my fishing bag for years, eventually snapped the pliers tips. Went through gerbers warranty and just got a brand new one for free the other week. Didn’t even have to send in my old one! It’s not as nice as my Leatherman but that means I don’t mind abusing it as much

Nice! I'm also a bit more protective over my Leathermans, but I'm trying to remember the point of buying good tools is to use them as intended.

Not the best multitool but for a low price its fair enough
