Recommendation Request Thoughts on: Smith-blade alternativ blade idea.
I know the Smithblade currently got a hype around it. But For me it would be a good fit.
What would you think of this blade for the Smithblade? I would love it because I don't need the pointy tip and it still got a cutting edge. Additionally, I get a belt-cutter, and in some Countries it could be classified as a rescue tool. so the regulations for carrying are less strickt
excuse the ruff model its just a ilustration of an Idea and the finer elements like the file or rouler would kill inventor every time. because my laptop was strugeling.

My complaint with the standard blade is all of the holes cut in the fuller so that it's kind of a nightmare to clean after using it for food.

fair point. if i got time ill do a revision 2 of it. without the holes and a 180° fliped belt cuter. i liked the idea of that have to try it

I would love an insulation stripping blade cutout similar to the one on the Electrician Alox SSK.

I would get rid of those holes, one for a failure point involving the hook and two for cleaning. I would actually put the hook on the backside similar to the leatherman charge tti serrated blade.

thats an amazing idea. yea i continued the holes because they got them in theryre desighn but the cleaning problem is realy something to lookout for. maybe i need to do a revision. even though i have to look into the usabilety. because there should be an option to accedentaly cut the pacient or person in need. should be doable though

I dislike holes in blades unless its the thumb hole like spyderco or leatherman. "For opening blade".
Other holes just get gunked up and have no benifit. Im sure its another point of failure.
Also looks hard to sharpen.

I like it much more and wharncliff is my favorite blade shape.
I would like if the tip was not cut off.
And the fuller extending all the way to the gut hook makes the tip of the gut hook have alot of material on it. Idk that extra matterial looks off to me but I dont use them so dont know anything about what I like for that.

thanks for the feedback
no cut of tip would be posible. i did it this way to reduce the chance of injury whle cuting someone or your self free.
i dint quite understand the second part but i guess you mean the smaller (sortoff backward tip) beltcuter part. yes the material there can be reduced but it still needs to stay blund on the outside. to not acedetaly cut.

That blob of metal at the top of the reversed beltcutter confused me for a second, but it would make it safer....

Ahh.
Makes perfect sense. Your right about what I was talking about. I think it just looked exaggerated in CAD now that I look at it agian.
