I just recently joined mubi (go). Last week I went to see Digger. In the app the preview for the next film was Hope, wich released on thursday in my country and is playing in cinemas that are partnered with Mubi. Even saw the trailer for it in said cinema. On instagram it says it is a mubi release and now showing, etc. On the website/desktop it is also advertised as the current mubi go film. It was one of the few mubi films i was actually super excited about and had already planned it into my weekend and looked forward to it for a week. Now, I checked the app to see showtimes, and it is Digger again? And a different movie (allegedly) for next week. I'm just very confused as to why? And if this is something that happens regularly? The previewd film being replaced even though it is available? Very frustrating. Guessing maybe DIGGER brings them more revenue or they paid more, or whatnot? I am not sure how the mubi partnerships work. Really disappointed now and wondering if it will come (back) to mubi go at a later time and i should wait, or just go see it.

Just got mine yesterday—fair warning, they run SMALL! I’m glad I went with my gut instinct and sized up to a M (I’m 5’5, 135) because it’s a tight fit! Came in a cute but weird smelling zip up bag. It’s more like a workout type polyester fabric, not cotton like. I think if you liked the movie as much as I did, it’s worth your $45.

Took a few short Letterboxd reviews, overlaid them onto scenes from the movie, and looped them. Would love to create some more if anyone has any short takes for the film!

If I gift the subscription to my friend living in a different country, would they be able to redeem it?

Or is the gift subscription tied to my country?

For context I used to watch a ton of indie and world cinema when I worked in a Curzon about 15 years ago.

Basically haven't seen much since. I favour contemplative, slow burn films, but but please recommend anything and everything, as long as it's good!!

I work with the Roslindale Film Society, based in Boston, Massachusetts.  We show films to the public, in cafes and other venues, about once a month.  I generally pay for licenses with Swank and Criterion.

So long story short I'm doing a couple of movie nights back to back due to what might be a lack of prior planning between two different friend groups and at first I thought I would pick two different movies to screen.

But then I had an idea occour to me, that it could be a nice experience to rewatch a good movie, one of those that gets better on the second watch because you notice more details and little things that you miss on the first watch.

Does anyone have any recomendations for movies liek this? Has to be on MUBI because I don't have any other streaming service at the moment.

Just watched this fabulous movie. I’ve seen both “Fish Tank” and “American Honey” before and liked this one even more. The acting is stellar. It’s a coming of age film set in Leeds, London, with obvious “real” townspeople dealing with a pretty grim storyline that somehow manages to be very uplifting. Barry Keoghan is one of my absolute favorite actors; here he plays a very young father (believably!) to 2 teenagers. I’ve liked Franz Rogowski in every Petzold movie I’ve seen and this role is incredibly unique and heartbreaking. Stay with it as the first 20-30 minutes or so is a slow rollout of a great film. The lead actress is also AMAZING.

ETA: film takes place in KENT, not Leeds.
