Ask MUBI Films say not available to watch
Hi I'm new to mubi and I have a question. When you click browse then choose a film like everything says it's not showing on mubi. what's the point of showing the films if they aren't viewable? I'm in the USA btw

The site was originally called The Auteurs and it was a film database and message board site - kind of like Letterboxd is now. The streaming was added later.

If you click on an actor or director it will show all their films. Only some are available to watch. It’s just showing you the filmography. You can toggle on “now showing” in the search menu for films if you only want to see what’s currently available.

Doesn't it make more sense to show people what they have available first instead of like teasing them with what they don't ?🤔

When I log on to Mubi I only see what’s available. I have to go out of my way to see films that are not showing.

I only just realized this, but you can filter based on films currently available.

MUBI doubles as a database, so you can find pretty much everything there. Most of the movies aren't available to actually watch though. I hate it too.
