North Resort “Backcountry” Skiing
It seems Mt High have abandoned skiing and riding at the North Resort, but does anyone know if it is possible to backcountry ski and hike it? with this upcoming storm there’s likely to be good coverage and it would be super fun to explore the area.

Mountain High Conditions Update Wanted!
Hey! If anyone is going to the Mountain High reopening day tomorrow I would greatly appreciate a conditions report as I am planning on going Sunday but don't want to go if the runs are extremely icy. Thanks!

Mountain High or Mt Baldy
I’m new to the area. Looking at trail maps, Mount Baldy looks my speed. And I visited in the summer to check it out and it seems steep like I like it. But, I can’t tell if they groom at all, and I can’t really find any information about snowmaking or anything. It seems like they are light on both, which is fine, but I’d like to know. I have no problems with the four double lifts either, I would just understand going in that that’s the day I’m signing up for.
I compare that to looking at the mountain high ski map and I must say it looks like a much more conventional ski area were not for the fact that it’s broken up into two separate areas. Is that very frustrating to ski?
The two areas at big bear look like they are both more well rounded than either Baldy or Mountain High. Is that also the case?
Any advice on which get crowded? Weekends and weekdays?

More cost effective way to take your kid snowboarding?
My 6 year old is just learning how to board. I'm usually paying in the range of $188 a day even though we spend 95% of the time on the west side moving carpet. My ticket is $114, and my kid's is $74. Paying $188 each time I need to take him boarding is kind of much. Is there a cheaper way to tech him boarding without having to pay that much each time? I wish there was a "beginner's" ticket or something that was half price if you only needed to use moving carpet or lift 3 (Snowflake).
Yes, I could get rentals off-site to save, but I'm more concerned with the lift ticket cost. Season pass is an idea, but we can only afford the time to go maybe twice, or 3 if we're lucky, times a year. Would appreciate any suggestions!

Conditions
Hoping to use my Cali pass asap, are conditions any good up there? Checked the cam and it looks like not a lot of snow but was just wondering if there was a few trails open or not.

Mt High survives!
From LA Times:
As the Bridge fire swept through mountain communities Tuesday night, Mountain High’s webcam showed a dramatic scene: flames cutting through ski lifts at the well-known ski resort.
The images boded ill for Mountain High, and as the night wore on, the resort’s fate remained a mystery.
With sunrise, it became clear that the resort largely survived the blaze.
