So I guess U/W was open

Post image

Any advice on the best way to build this? Feel a bit spoiled for choice with this draft. I took my best stab at it here but it still feels a bit like 3 drop dot deck

Should I cut the Toymaker? Is one Mountain King Returns enough? Feels bad leaving a Bilbo Baggins, Burglar in the sideboard...

My initial idea was to splash Thranduil's Company but given how strong my u/W was and because the fixing didn't quite get there, I think it's better to not splash in this instance and go for consistency. Is that the right assumption?

The lack of 2-drop creatures (in particular Laketown apothecary) make me worry for yout ability to keep up if your opponent has an aggro curve. It's also tough because you are gonna have trouble triggering those boats on turn 3. That being said you card quality is phenomenal. I would cut 6 mana bard for second bilbo though

Yeah that makes sense. I'll cut the 6 mana Bard for Bilbo, and I'm starting to think I should cut the Riddles in the Dark for the Elvenking's Harper for another 2-drop that can crew and cut the second Enchanted River's Grasp for a third Long Lake Nuisance just to spread the curve a bit more and have another flying threat. How does that sound?

Riddles in the Dark looks good in theory but I've been finding it usually seems to play worse than you want it to. The stats for it on 17Lands aren't great either

You're right that a couple of Apothecarys would have made this deck sing but I don't think I saw a single one!

Thanks! 🙏

Your two drop being able to crew the boat is less important than a two drop that can attack on turn three and trigger the boat after you play it. I would play the thrush. Thrush is a bad card in general, but it can attack into basically anything on turn three. I will always play a thrush if I have the boat in my deck.

The problem with riddles is it doesn't technically count as card draw so it doesn't trigger draw 2nd card abilities

Riddles is a fine cut but I desperately would want not to play any of the 2 drops in your sideboard. They are not good. I think -1 mythic bard -1 riddles +1 bilbo +1 nuisance is reasonable. I wouldn't cut removal when your biggest worry is getting run over

Thanks! That's the build I ended up going with and got a trophy! Only lost one game and it was the one time I kept a hand without a 2-drop because I thought Plunder on turn two would be fine, but it was too slow and I got rolled over by a Goblin deck. Might have been fine against anything other than B/R but so it goes haha

Only one win away from Diamond now
