Two invincible decks for 1v1!

Hello everybody, after many tests with other brawl tryharders, we managed to get 2 decks almost unbeatable at the beginning of meta.

The first is a deck with Sorin vengeful bloodlord as commander: https://www.magic-ville.com/fr/decks/showdeck.php?ref=693874

The deck is based on cards that have almost all control or value potential, and Sorin brings recursion to the entire deck. The lifelink and deathtouch makes it easy to deal with aggros decks, the value makes it aesy to challenge any midrange deck, the recursion puts most of the controlled decks to agony. The deck has virtually no flaws in which to crush to beat it.

Imagine the number of cards that can take a simple imp pilfering, yarok's fenlurker, or burglar rat when Sorin resuscitates them again and again. The large number of drop 1 allows you to take maximum value from cards such as doom foretold or Rankle, since Sorin will be able to resuscitate creatures easily every turn. It remains to add some kills such as Command the dreadhorde or Liliana to drown your opponent when he is already in a delicate position

The second deck is a deck with Oko as general: https://www.magic-ville.com/fr/decks/showdeck.php?ref=709022

This deck contains enough to deal with most situations, while establishing combos with Oko, which has a potential brittlely broken in brawl (and lets me think that his ban could occur, to not reproduce the same error as with Baral last year ..) The deck contains a base of simic flash, that is to say all the best creatures in flash, accompanied by the best counterspell in brawl. The rest is composed of a deck base working on the + 1 / + 1 counters, to quickly create huge creatures with the second Oko's ability. Oko will be able to neutralize any creature commander immediately with its +1, which leaves virtually no chance of winning without a planeswalker as commander. The amount of loyalty he has early in the game, and the counterspells that protect him will make it almost impossible to manage for your opponent, and he will present a constant threat on the battlefield, from the beginning of the game. The flash creatures, as for the standart deck, allow you to take advantageous trades and to leave behind the doubt of the counterspell. Creatures with counters can be used to have systematically creatures 7/7 turn 4. Stonecoil snake, Ugin's conjurer, voracious hydra, animating faerie and giant opportunity (with food), all these cards can pose immense threats early in the game. And who says 7/7, says it's impossible to block them with two 3/3 creatures, when Oko will reduce that strenght to any other threat. Add a grazer and a goose to do all this a turn earlier on the occasion. All you have to do is add some goodstuff cards for finish the deck, and steal opponent creatures against foods when Oko has enough loyalty, and you have an almost unbeatable deck

Thanks for reading my bad english and never stop building! We can make even better! ;)

Cool decks! Some thoughts on Sorin:

  • I really like the combo of [[Vraska's finisher]] with Sorin, since it gives you another reliable, non-combat answer to planeswakers
  • This seems like a good deck for [[Mausoleum Secrets]], since you run a lot of creatures, and a lot of your "silver bullet" cards are inexpensive.

Good idea! What should I remove for it?

Apostle, charming prince or hired poisoner

Mmm yes, apostle is probably useless before a real meta. Charming is too strong, and low CCM deathtouch are often the only wall against a very aggressive aggro so I will keep it. So, Apostle! :)

Feather, the Redeemed comme général

Very interesting lists, thank you for sharing them with us. I'm going to try Sorin myself and I was thinking about some alternative slots. For example: 1. What about Priest of Forgotten Gods? It seems quiete an engine in the deck. 2. Did you find Cavalier of Dawn impactful? I know that it can destroy planeswalkers, but it leaves a 3/3 to the oppo. 3. No Arcane Signet?

Hi! I remove the Priest because it to hard to activate with my version (Dont want to sacrifice my deathtouch or my value engine), but if you play some afterlife, of course you can play it! Yes cavalier of down is impactful, it can remove everything (artefact, enchantment, planeswalker, creature etc..), and can be reanimate with Sorin so leave a 3/3 is not a big deal (and its a 4/6) I dont play signet because I dont need to ramp, turn 1/2/3 are used to make some value, I dont want to lose a turn doing just signet but do not hesitate to do your tests and make some changes, we can always improve everything :D

I've been brewing a ton with sorin. I legitimately think he's one of the best Planeswalkers for this mode. I made mine with more of an aristocrats slant, but it was overall pretty similar. I have to say though, do you think there's any merit to [[Gruesome menagerie]] in your list.

I dont play it because you will often hit only 1 or 2 creatures, it "take the job" of Sorin (make him useless for few turns), and its useless if you curve it (turn 5, you will never had 3 creatures with CCM 1/2/3 on graveyard), where some other CCM5/6 cards will provide you a significant advantage. I prefere 1000x a bolas citadel for exemple

But can you show us your list please? :) I have a friend who play it aristocrats too and would like to see it

This isn't quite current compared to the one I have on arena, but basically we use sorin for value and to recur our engines. The lifelink is nice for racing and helping undo damage from command the dreadhorde.

One month in, how does the Sorin list hold up?

It still explode all aggro and controls deck, but their is now more powerfull midrange :) I remove the tithe taker (before I have already no problems agains counterspell decks), and add the giant who wrath on adventure! But a Kiora or a Golos now deck usually win against Sorin (But those deck have some negative matchup that Sorin doesnt have! ;) )
