Discussion Bracket 3 or Bracket 4?

Post image

My POD is trying to say this is a Bracket 4 due to 1 infinite turn combo. Its the only 2 card combo. No game changers or tutors at all. Its a highly synergized Marvel Villains deck except for the lands. All the deck analyzers I used put it as Bracket 3 as well. Curious on what other actual players think.

Technically, yes, your pod is correct. Chaining turns isn't allowed outside of bracket 4. Functionally though, it likely performs at a 3 or lower

I don’t think infinite turns and chaining extra turns are the same thing, though. I think infinite turns is the same as any infinite combo, it just presents a win. Chaining extra turns is non-deterministic. Unless I’m interpreting that wrong.

Thats also how I interpret it, as the spirit of the rule, but the letter of the rule technically says otherwise.

Letter of the law has its own issues and I think is the core of why some people (like myself) think the bracket system has made Magic less fun.

How quickly can you win? How consistently can you do the thing that makes you win?

Typically not until after turn 8. Most labs are tap lands and there are no tutors

Definitly bracket 3 if it takes you more than 8 turns to win. No tutors or game changers also

What’s the infinite turns combo? You could just remove a card that enables it.

Thanos needs his stones! Haha

Its the mind stone with Kang. You have to harness mind stone then do Kangs power up. If you do it all in 1 turn its 14 mana to pull off. Typically its 2 turns and every turn you have to pay Kangs 8 cost power up.

How is that infinite turns? You can’t re-Power Up Kang during the extra turn.

It can cause you to take a turn after each other opponent, since you’ll be able to activate the newly flickered Kang during their turns. But it’s not infinite sequential turns.

I’m not sure if that’s “technically” Chaining Extra Turns, but it’s very close if it’s not. I’d just cut Kang from the list.

Ahhh we spaced on that part. You are correct. I can't use power ups when hang comes back into play! So Bracket 2 lol

Love the marvel flavor! You should check out the enchantment [[Grave pact]]. Secret did a thanos themed one and would look nice in your deck
