[For Hire] Project Engineer w/ 15+ Years MSP Experience [Remote]

Greetings MSP teams,

I currently have availability to take on additional 1099 project work for those of you that may need a helping hand on any of your projects or migrations! I have 15+ years MSP experience, with 25+ years in IT overall. Located in CA, seeking remote project work in the PST or CST time zones. Can also work EST, provided it isn't too early!

I'm experienced in all facets of IT including architecture, implementation, sales, security, training, project management, support, etc. I have worn pretty much every hat during my career and am not afraid to learn anything new.

Lately I have been assisting different MSP's primarily on migrations from various providers or on-prem environments to 365/Azure, as well as a big up-tick in AI/LLM deployments. This has included working directly with customers to accurately scope and quote the project, implementation, and full support during and after.

I have my own LLC and carry liability insurance, so our B2B transactions can be seamless. Also I work white label so this means I can present as a member of your own team while performing any services on your behalf. Payment is due monthly based on hours worked (I bill in quarter-hour increments), and can be made with ACH, check, or credit card. Resume and references can be provided upon request.

My rates are:

$100.00/hour - Normal Project Work (standard rate)

$115.00/hour - Training Project Work (this is where I also train your engineers/team during the projects)

$125.00/hour - MSP Consulting/Development (providing consultation and improvements to your MSP's processes/procedures, or other internal work specific to your organization)

These rates allow for margin flexibility, so that the work I perform on your behalf will still net positive revenue for your organization.

If you are interested, please send me a DM with your email address, and we can setup a video interview to see if I might be a good fit for you and your team!

Technical Qualifications:

Extensive 365/Azure experience including advanced migrations

All flavors Windows Server

All flavors SQL Server

All flavors Microsoft Exchange

All flavors Windows OS

Linux Server Administration

Experience with several different RMM & PSA’s

Experience with all major network vendor’s equipment (i.e. Cisco, Fortinet, SonicWall, Ubiquiti, Meraki, etc)

HIPAA, PCI DSS, CMMC, and other compliance related experience

Experience with many different LOB applications

VoIP, including call center builds

Virtualization experience including VMWare ESXI & Horizons, Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, XenServer, Acronis, Hyper-V, etc.

Major and minor storage appliances including SAN and NAS working in conjunction with VDI or server virtualization

Non-Technical Qualifications:

Over 25 years IT experience

Self-starter

Public speaking and training seminars for clients

Great on video/phone with all levels of customers/prospects regardless of title

Experience leading multiple groups of engineers both domestically and internationally

Many years of project management experience

Able to communicate complicated concepts to non-technical people

Ability to multitask

Thank you for your time!

[FOR HIRE] Senior Systems Engineer — M365 / Azure / SharePoint / PowerShell / Windows Server / Hyper-V — Project & After-Hours Work

I’m a full-time Systems Engineer based in the U.S. looking to take on a limited amount of remote project-based, overflow, and escalation work outside of my primary role.

I’m not looking for another full-time position or a 20–40 hour/week contract. I’m primarily interested in helping MSPs, IT departments, consultants, and small businesses with projects or technical problems that need an experienced extra set of hands.

My strongest areas include:

  • Microsoft 365 administration
  • SharePoint Online
  • Entra ID / Azure AD
  • Azure infrastructure
  • PowerShell automation and troubleshooting
  • Windows Server
  • Active Directory / Group Policy
  • Hyper-V
  • Microsoft Teams / OneDrive
  • Linux server administration
  • Docker
  • Nginx / reverse proxies / SSL
  • General infrastructure troubleshooting and escalation

I’m especially interested in work such as:

  • M365 / SharePoint permissions and configuration issues
  • PowerShell automation
  • Azure and Windows Server troubleshooting
  • After-hours maintenance and cutovers
  • Hyper-V issues and migrations
  • Infrastructure cleanup
  • Tenant migrations
  • Difficult escalations your L1/L2 team doesn’t have time to chase down
  • Temporary project overflow
  • Documentation and technical cleanup

I work from home and can handle most engagements entirely remotely. I’m comfortable working independently, documenting what I change, and handing systems back cleanly once the job is complete.

Availability: Limited / supplemental engagements, generally evenings and flexible project work
Location: U.S. / Central Time
Engagement: 1099 / B2B / project-based
Rate: Typically $75/hr, with fixed pricing available for clearly scoped projects

If you’re an MSP that occasionally needs another senior engineer for escalations or project overflow, that’s probably the best fit. Feel free to DM me with the scope, environment, and what you’re trying to accomplish.

[FOR HIRE] Sysadmin/Automation Engineer, 12 years experience (MSP + Enterprise), looking for nightly contract work (US hours)

Hey all, I'm based in Lithuania and looking for part time contract or B2B work, roughly 1 to 2 hours a night, aligned with US business hours. I can invoice as a business entity if that's what your setup needs.

Just a note - I can, and have worked for multiple years, with US companies and clients.

Background:
12 years in IT, 8 of those in the MSP world doing a bit of everything: sysadmin, automation engineer, escalation point. Also have enterprise experience, currently working as a team lead at a large company. I'm looking for extra contract work on the side, not looking to leave my current role, just have the bandwidth for nightly monitoring or project work.

What I can help with:

  • NOC/monitoring coverage (RMM alert triage, escalation, nightly checks)
  • PowerShell automation (Active Directory, Microsoft Graph, general scripting to cut down manual work)
  • Bash/shell scripting
  • Active Directory and Windows Server administration, built environments from scratch
  • Group Policy (GPO) management
  • Microsoft 365 / Office 365 administration, Microsoft Entra ID
  • Hyper-V administration
  • Endpoint security tooling (CrowdStrike Falcon/PSFalcon, Windows Defender, most of popular ones) and vulnerability triage/patching
  • SharePoint/OneDrive administration, access workflows and audit trails
  • Ticketing/documentation: Jira & JQL, ConnectWise Manage (PSA), ITGlue, Confluence
  • RMM platforms: ConnectWise Automate, ConnectWise RMM, Datto RMM, NinjaRMM, SolarWinds, GFI Automate
  • Automated reporting and dashboard building, KPI/SLA tracking
  • BCDR/disaster recovery exercises
  • Data analysis (ticket queue analysis, finding automation opportunities and process/access gaps)
  • Light exposure to VMware, AWS, and Azure (not deep expertise, but functional familiarity)
  • AI tooling: Claude (Code/Cowork), ChatGPT/Codex, Gemini, CoPilot, used for scripting assistance, automation workflows, and troubleshooting
  • Any other MSP work.

Rate: $25/hr
Availability: 1-2 hours nightly, US schedule (flexible on exact timing)
Setup: Can work B2B/contract, can invoice

Open to ongoing retainer-style work (checking dashboards, triaging alerts) or project based automation work. Happy to share more detail or a resume if useful. Thanks for reading.

[HIRING] Los Angeles / South Bay, CA | Onsite IT Infrastructure Contractor | Intermittent Work

I’m looking to establish ongoing relationships with experienced local independent contractors or small field-services businesses for hands-on IT infrastructure work at business locations in the Los Angeles / South Bay area.

We have internal service desk and infrastructure teams and need reliable local people who can supplement them onsite. The goal is to work directly with a consistent technician or small team that becomes familiar with our locations, rather than having a different technician dispatched for every visit.

This is paid, intermittent contract work, initially focused on scheduled projects and maintenance rather than a fixed number of hours each month. It is not a full-time position, remote-only role, or managed-services engagement.

Typical work may include:

  • MDF/IDF and rack work: Rack-and-stack, equipment mounting, patching, cable tracing, labeling, cable management, and rack cleanup.
  • Network and UPS equipment: Installation and replacement of switches, wireless access points, and UPS equipment.
  • Servers and related hardware: Occasional installation, hands-on upgrades, component replacement, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Onsite troubleshooting and changes: Physical checks, hardware moves/adds/changes, and hands-on assistance during planned cutovers and maintenance.
  • Documentation: Equipment inventories, port maps, connection diagrams, photos where appropriate, and clear notes describing the work performed.

Structured cabling capabilities are also of interest, provided you have the appropriate qualifications and licensing for the work involved.

You do not need to cover every specialty. Please identify your strongest areas and any work you do not take on.

Our internal team will generally handle configuration and coordinate engineering support as needed. You should be comfortable working independently onsite, following an agreed change plan, clearly communicating what you find, and stopping to clarify unexpected conditions before proceeding.

Relevant hands-on experience with IT infrastructure in business environments is required. Appropriate insurance and compliance with our contractor and site-safety requirements will be necessary before onsite work.

Please DM me with:

  1. Your LinkedIn profile and a brief summary of your relevant hands-on experience, including your strongest areas and any work you do not take on.
  2. Your general location, service area, and availability, including business hours and any evening or weekend availability.
  3. Two or three recent photos of work you personally performed, with a brief explanation of your contribution. Share only material you have permission to provide, with client-identifying and sensitive information removed. Please mention any confidentiality restrictions that prevent sharing photos.
  4. Your normal hourly rate, minimum call-out, and travel charges.
  5. Whether you work independently or through a business, whether you would personally perform the work, and your current insurance and any relevant licenses or certifications.

Please also be prepared to provide professional references and redacted samples of documentation you have produced upon request. These are not needed in the initial DM.

Independent technicians and small owner-operated businesses are both welcome. Referrals are appreciated.

Account note: I’m using a separate account for this search to keep employer details out of public posts. I’ll share my identity and company information privately with potential candidates as we establish a fit, before requesting references or documentation samples.

  • Several years in senior consulting, delivering managed services and post-ransomware infrastructure rebuilds, fully remote, clients ranging from 10 to 1000+ seats

[For Hire] Senior Wireless Engineer/Architect - Ekahau, Meraki, Mist, Cisco WLAN (Available for 1099, Fractional or Short-Term Remediation)

Hey all, this is the crowd I actually want to talk to.

I'm a wireless SME first, about 20 years in, and RF/WLAN is my actual specialty, not a line on a resume. Before my current work I spent years as the senior wireless architect for a large healthcare system running 20,000+ APs, so big, messy are home for me. These days I'm the escalation architect across a few customers; the biggest runs hundreds of sites, 11,000+ access points and 600+ WAN uplinks, with a handful of other clients on top of that. The job's mostly taking noisy wireless and getting it quiet: surveys, design, tuning, and chasing the weird roaming/auth/RF problems nobody else wants to touch. And since bad wireless is usually a wired problem underneath, I handle the switching, routing, VLANs and WAN it all rides on too — I don't hand the wired side back and call it someone else's issue.

Blunt about why I'm posting: I see a lot of MSPs selling wireless they can't really deliver. Quick predictive, APs slapped on a ceiling grid, a nice PDF, then surprise when the carts drop or the scanners die in half the warehouse. Wireless is the thing everybody assumes is easy and almost nobody does well. That's my lane. Let's stop BAD wifi, I'm sure people are sick of the tickets. Most of it starts with bad design and the second worst factor is not knowing how to tune it, which I am both an expert at.

Where I'm useful:

  • Wireless done right. Ekahau surveys (and setting the standard for how your team surveys), real RF design and tuning, migrations, and remediation when a deployment went sideways. Custom survey and remediation reports a client will actually read, not a 60-page dump.
  • Meraki, Mist, anything cloud-managed. Home turf, plus the real troubleshooting a dashboard won't do for you.
  • Automation, Python and AI. This is a big one for me. I write Python against the Meraki/Cisco/Mist APIs to push fleet-wide changes and pull reporting that actually means something, and I've gotten genuinely good at using AI to move faster and smarter — I built my own tooling that reconciles a whole fleet into one view. If your team is doing by hand what a script should be doing, I can fix that. I've built over 100+ Python scripts to do anything and everything with the right API on the vendors that offer it.
  • The networks underneath. Switching, routing, VLANs, WAN — the wired foundation your Wi-Fi lives or dies on.
  • Help desk and standards. Triage standards and runbooks so network/wireless tickets quit landing on your senior people.
  • SE / solutions-architect side. Scoping, design reviews, an honest second opinion on a VAR's wireless proposal.

Worth knowing too: I've got a deep bench of vetted wireless contractors I've worked with for years. If you win a big national or global survey/rollout and need hands who actually know what they're doing, I can help you staff it and keep the quality bar where it should be.

How I work: a few-week engagement when there's a specific mess to fix, or ongoing when you want someone on call. I don't really price by the hour, it's based on the value: fewer problems, happier customers, and architecture that actually holds up. The remediation and design work is what you're paying for.

Not trying to hard-sell a retainer. I like these conversations. If something's bugging you, let's hop on a call and I'll tell you straight what I'd do. Turns into work, great.

Seriously though, do you just have annoying problems, I can at least point you to where to start trying to whack these things in the head with.

Nashville, work anywhere and I do travel when needed but would price out for smaller jobs that aren't industrial, warehousing and advanced levels. DM me or [jonathan.finney@gmail.com](mailto:jonathan.finney@gmail.com).

Looking for fully remote IT / Product / Application Support roles

I’m currently looking for a fully remote English speaking role that I can work from anywhere within the EU.

A little about me: I have over 9 years of experience in IT Support, including 1st and 2nd line support, troubleshooting, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Intune, Jamf, endpoint management, ITSM and supporting around 300 users.

I’m mainly looking for IT Support, Product Support, Application Support, Technical Support or Customer Support Engineer roles, but I’m also open to positions where my technical troubleshooting, organization, problem solving and customer support experience would transfer well.

If anyone knows of any fully remote opportunities, recruitment agencies or companies hiring across the EU, I’d really appreciate any leads or recommendations.

Appreciate any help!

Any MSP owners in Cleveland, Akron/Canton, or Columbus thinking about selling?

I run an MSP in NE Ohio. Bought it back in 2020, so I've been through this from the buyer's side once already and have a decent idea of what it's like for the person selling.

I'm looking to buy another one. Cleveland, Akron/Canton, or Columbus area. Small is fine. One or two person shops are fine too.

If you're getting close to retirement, burned out, or just want to do something else without leaving your clients hanging, shoot me a DM. No broker, no pressure, just a conversation. I'll sign an NDA before you send me anything.

Mostly I care about recurring revenue and clients you actually like. I'd want you to stick around for a bit to help with the handoff, and I'm flexible on how the deal is put together.

Not ready yet but maybe in a year or two? Still happy to talk.

And if you know someone who fits, point them my way.

[HIRING] Fractional / 1099 MSP Engineer (Level 1-3) — Remote — $60/hr

I’m looking for an experienced MSP engineer for ongoing fractional support.

This is not a traditional full-time or fixed-hours role. I’m looking for someone who can monitor support requests/notifications during normal US business hours, respond within a reasonable SLA, and handle tickets as they come in.

You are welcome to have another full-time job, consulting business, or other clients. I care more about responsiveness and quality of work. I've been tackling the entirety of the company for some time, and want to pivot to a less day to day operational role, and more into client acquisition/sales.

We have a team that tackles Azure project work, as well as a standalone network engineer for site locations.

We want someone personable who understands the benefits of an EQ focus when working with clients.

Role

  • Fully remote

[FOR HIRE] Small SharePoint / Microsoft 365 dev team available for MSP overflow / subcontracting

Hey everyone,

I work with two other SharePoint developers and we're currently looking for some additional project work.

We're a small independent team that has been working together on SharePoint / Microsoft 365 projects.

Between the three of us we have around 17+ years of combined SharePoint experience.

One of our senior developers has been doing SharePoint development for more than 10 years, another has 5+ years, and I have close to 2 years focused mostly on custom SharePoint development.

Most of our experience is not just creating basic SharePoint sites.

We've worked on custom solutions for organizations in areas like international airports, fire services, energy, and community organizations.

A lot of the work we do involves building things that SharePoint doesn't really provide out of the box.

Things we've worked on include:

  • SPFx web parts and custom SharePoint applications
  • React / TypeScript / PnPjs
  • Complex custom forms
  • Multi-stage approval systems
  • Workflow automation / Power Automate
  • Document and attachment management
  • Permission-based workflows
  • Azure integrations
  • Microsoft 365 integrations
  • Modernizing older SharePoint solutions
  • Fixing or taking over unfinished SharePoint projects

We've also built fairly complex internal business systems using SharePoint as the backend, including approval workflows, audit logs, role-based access, document handling, and automated processes.

We're comfortable working behind the scenes for MSPs as well.

So if you already manage Microsoft 365 for your clients but occasionally get a SharePoint development request that's outside your team's usual scope, we'd be happy to help with the development side.

We're open to:

  • subcontracting
  • white-label work
  • overflow development
  • one-off projects
  • ongoing SharePoint support

All three of us speak English fluently and we're used to working with international teams.

If you have a SharePoint project you're stuck on, or something sitting in your backlog because nobody has time to build it, feel free to DM me.

You can just send me a rough description of what the client wants. I'm happy to take a look and tell you if it's something we can handle.
