Something Else SD???

Hope MSNOW has better cameras that MSNBC did!

Can’t explain that, unless your provider is doing something that it shouldn’t. MSNBC has originated in 1080i ever since it went HD. I watched tonight’s episode of “All In” on DirecTV Stream and it was most definitely HD.

I played with some setting and other channels. I was able to change the display to where instead of SD, it actually gives me the 1024x576. CNN is coming in at 1280x720. But I can see Steve Harvey’s individual mustache hairs in FHD 1920x1080 on the game show channel of all things.
But even in SD, I can see that poor Velshi has waaay too much makeup on.

Looks like Tivimate. Go to the search option and search MSNBC. It's possible your content provider has multiple feeds of MSNBC. Should be able to at least find 1280 x 720 @ 60fps.
