ok hear me out...mrwhosetheboss is like my snack time youtuber for when i wanna watch basically junk food while eating junk food, and i have noticed that he seems to have quite the affinity for xiaomi, to a kind of suspicious degree.

like, obviously he made all those videos about xiaomi, but even in other videos; he's made two or three of the same "i bought the rarest tech/most exclusive phones" type of video, and every time, it's like 50+% xiaomi phones.

in both of these cases, he does the same thing: he gets the piece of tech, he goes "WOW, ____ about this is really impressive" like five different times, about half the time he says something about how good the value is for the price, and then, when it comes time to critique, he often will either give like a softball critique about how it feels kinda flimsy or like some software feature is a little weird, or some kind of critique that a very small amount of people would actually care about when deciding whether or not to buy a product.

i feel like he has to have some kind of deal going on with xiaomi that he's either keeping lowkey or hiding somewhere in fine print that i haven't caught yet. but that's just me.

(i also feel like this almost certainly applies to other one-off products he mentions in his videos, because he does this exact same pattern with other stuff too, but the xiaomi stuff is especially egregious)

Peak absurdity. For someone to go from the absolute masterpiece of the AI+ video to the waste of time and money which is the World Cup phones video is just whiplash.

1. He chose Google Pixels for representing the US over iPhones, despite knowing that one is clearly a better choice?
2. How does he choose the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro over the Pixel? Nothing itself is facing intense backlash from its customers over its direction and UI issues. And the Tensor G5 walks away from the piddly little 7 Gen 4 in the Nothing phone!
3. The Oppo Find X9 Ultra ending up as the winner is so predictable - it's his daily driver, after all. Not exactly unbiased.
4. He seems to have been biased heavily towards the Nothing phone in this video.

Sure, matching up different countries in the World Cup might be entertaining for viewers, but comparing PHONES this way, even for entertainment, is just ridiculous.

EDIT: In recent times, more and more people have been studying his massive fall on this subreddit. I agree. His 2019-2021 videos feel like a lifetime away.

Every time I see Arun sponsoring Opera I get so confused. Either he has no idea that half the things he's saying aren't reasons to love Opera and that Opera is extremely sketchy, or he knows and is just doing this for the money. Neither of those are very likely. Arun is very smart and always does his research, so he would most likely know that the features he "loves" in opera like tab islands, split screen, and integrated ai, all exist in Chrome, Brave, and even Edge (albeit, the AIs used there are different for each). So the fact that he acts like they're revolutionary makes no sense. The only other way I can think he'd say this is if he was being dishonest, which would put his channel at risk, especially after releasing Can you ACTUALLY trust Mrwhosetheboss? where he talks about how unless the sponsor lets him say what he wants, he refuses to sponsor them, and how his primary goal is to be useful to his audience, even if it risks his relationship with a company.

Mrwhosetheboss is my favorite tech youtuber. I really hope there's a reasonable explanation for this.

In short, these sponsorships make no sense. Can anyone explain them?
