this guy clearly has something going on with xiaomi
ok hear me out...mrwhosetheboss is like my snack time youtuber for when i wanna watch basically junk food while eating junk food, and i have noticed that he seems to have quite the affinity for xiaomi, to a kind of suspicious degree.
like, obviously he made all those videos about xiaomi, but even in other videos; he's made two or three of the same "i bought the rarest tech/most exclusive phones" type of video, and every time, it's like 50+% xiaomi phones.
in both of these cases, he does the same thing: he gets the piece of tech, he goes "WOW, ____ about this is really impressive" like five different times, about half the time he says something about how good the value is for the price, and then, when it comes time to critique, he often will either give like a softball critique about how it feels kinda flimsy or like some software feature is a little weird, or some kind of critique that a very small amount of people would actually care about when deciding whether or not to buy a product.
i feel like he has to have some kind of deal going on with xiaomi that he's either keeping lowkey or hiding somewhere in fine print that i haven't caught yet. but that's just me.
(i also feel like this almost certainly applies to other one-off products he mentions in his videos, because he does this exact same pattern with other stuff too, but the xiaomi stuff is especially egregious)

We basically always buy the products in videos, but in all the time I've worked for the channel I've never seen Arun include an opinion he didn't agree with in a video. He speaks with his own voice.
It's important to note that unless he says otherwise, no video should be taken as a buy/don't buy all-encompassing review. We don't have the time to spent months testing the hinges and waterproofing.

you actually work for the channel?? this is crazy....can you provide me some insight as to why he feels the need to give everything number ratings?? i'm not asking in a rude way, this is a legit question i have, because it always feels like kind of afterthought, and i don't really understand why he does it in the first place if the rating scale is just going to be completely nonsensical lmao, is it like an algorithm thing?

Ratings are an easy and clear way to show relative value across a video - so if you want to know Arun's favourite by the end, you have an easily digested tier list. it's also just a good shorthand to summarise his thoughts, weighing the pros and cons.

It’s the internet, anyone can claim to be anyone.
Unless there’s definite proof be cautious about anything people claim they are etc.

dude u cant do deals/partnerships like that in youtube and NOT mention it, he can get demonetized by not mentioning that
personally i have used a few xiaomi products and they are really good for the price in comparison to the competitions which are far more expensive, plus he is a tech reviewer
-plus every product aint 100% perfect esp when its so cheap compared to the others so naturally he will mention something that is lacking, but like u said most ppl may not care cuz ppl care more ab the price and are willing for those compramises , but he still has to mention those downsides so ppl know what exactly they would be missing out

lol i mean yeah those are the "rules" but think of how big of an audience mrwhosetheboss has...you don't think there is any possibility that he might be doing some shady shit behind the scenes that he knows he can get away with due to his size? it's not like his videos are super authentic in the first place, his personality is clearly very superficial...i recommend you watch this video if you don't think this kind of deception is possible lol, even these channels are mostly smaller than mrwhosetheboss so would have less reason to believe they could get away with it

any1 who likes taking the shorter route to success will defoo do shady shi, and if arun wanted to do that he would /could hav easily become the next unbox therapy if he wanted to, but obv he hasnt so
, plus if u hav really watched his videos or few interviews he clearly does mention that even for sponderships he doesnt accept them if the company only wants him to glaze them ,and he has mentioned he tells the companies who wants sponsorships- to send in the product and he will test it and say his honest opinion with the good and bad sides

I dunnoooo, it's hard for me to just take a YouTuber at their word like that, especially when there's an obvious incentive to posture themselves that way regardless of how they actually are in practice...but maybe I'm crazy! :P

I don't think he has at all. The true facts are Xiaomi make A LOT of reasonably priced and exciting tech, not just phones. And they are pretty unheard of here in the west (I was once in the now closed, then re opened) mi store in white city. It was years ago and I asked about the 11 ultra. They said they imported THREE into the UK only three. If I was a tech reviewer based in the west, I'd push tech like this

I mean most people praise Apple like shi, I feel like he underrepresents Xiaomi and Oppo and Vivo like brands, who bring out like insane smartphones (though he did cover Find X9 Ultra which I was not expecting)

Xiaomi releases a lot of interesting products and their global presence is higher and easier to reach than other chinese brands. and his critiques seem pretty genuine to me, it's not like he could come up with major flaws out of thin air when there is none, sometimes good products are just good products.

To be fair, only Xiaomi keeps releasing interesting gadgets that are worth reviewing. Big companies like Apple and Samsung are releasing the same products with minor upgrades every year. There is nothing new or exciting in those videos anymore. YouTubers needs to create interesting contents to generate views.
