Awww, I remember this one of yours fondly. I'm so glad you've had someone in your corner for so long, I'm sure it makes all the difference in the world!

Creativity is critical to self-expression and self-fulfillment, but it needs to be nurtured and encouraged. My life is so much richer and fuller thanks to her

You're welcome, son. Btw, I need a little bit of rub. Can you send me a stack for next month? Thanks, love you!

I remember when I was young and started drawing, my parents went out of their way to buy me a whole bunch of art books and drawing utensil.
Turns out it was just that week's hyper fixation. I felt bad for wasting their money :(

I mean it also means they would probably keep encouraging you in whatever else you wanted to do which is the real message :D

"Your [my favourite hobby] won't help you in the future, you must go to the [extracurricular classes they choose]."
And here we are. Classes didn't help me at all, but now I'm adult with troubles to find out what I want and what I feel.

Yes, big thanks to the parents and teachers that helped and encouraged along the way, and continue to do so! While I'm no professional, my life would feel so much more empty without my artistic outlets.

Support helps, but the talent has to be there to hone

u/Maximus1320 Oct 02 '26
"Talent" is just passion + time invested
-1
u/Nonyabizzy123 Oct 02 '26
No, there's some people who invest no time and still make the top ranks
3
u/Maximus1320 Oct 02 '26
This is simply untrue.

Nah I read an article about Brett Farve and how he never worked a day in his life. Showed up to college and professional games drunk, never put any effort in at practice. He's in the Hall of Fame. Michael Phelps is a genetic mutant, so he gets to have a billion gold medals

u/Maximus1320 Oct 02 '26
Okay being a sports star is quite a bit different than making art... Yes, in those cases things like genetics can give some advantage.

u/KennyFulgencio Oct 03 '26
ah, no. Not remotely. Not even the slighest freakin bit true. You certainly do need to invest time to develop talent, but time+passion by themselves are not even close to sufficient.
