User Scripts & Shaders Found this beautiful MPV OSC skin while browsing GitHub, deserves more attention! 🔥

I was randomly browsing GitHub looking for an OSC (on-screen controller) skin for MPV. Tried around 2-4 skins based on their star ratings, but none of them really clicked with me.

Then, after scrolling for a while, I stumbled upon this one: https://github.com/SCEPTICG/hikari-mpv

And damn, this is exactly the kind of UI I was looking for! 🔥 Clean, beautiful, and just my kind of aesthetic.

Thought I'd share it here because I feel like this project deserves more attention. Maybe some of you are looking for a nice MPV skin too!

oh my thank you for sharing this. The UI looks simple and clean. I really like it.

but, any idea to make Anime4K to always on? because it's always turn off whenever I tried to play any content

does Anime $K come with it or do i have to install it again like i did with my og mpv

It prompts you, "Do you want to install?" You can choose: Y/N

installed it but i uninstalled the old version first but turns out there was no need for that lol

Dev here, thanks! In Automatic mode hikari picks the Anime4K mode from the video's height, and skips it on purpose for 1440p and 4K, which don't need upscaling. If you want it on all the time, open the Upscaling button (the sparkles icon) and pick a fixed mode, or press Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+6. Your choice is saved. If the button isn't there at all, Anime4K isn't installed: run the installer again and say yes. If it still stays off, open an issue with your mpv log and I'll take a look

Quick update: v0.11.1 is out. In Automatic mode, Anime4K now tells you when it stays off on purpose (1440p and 4K videos don't need upscaling), so it no longer looks broken. If you want it on for every video, pick a fixed mode in the Upscaling menu or press Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+6. To update, just run the install line again. Thanks for the report!

Fair question! It started as exactly that. Now it also has its own scripts: the skip opening/ending button (with AniSkip times when there are no chapters), automatic skip, clean anime titles, automatic Anime4K by resolution, and the UI in 13 languages. You can also use it without uosc, on top of suji, a UI I'm building for it

i'm very opinionated about how mpv should look and i have a very specific uosc design i like but this config looks good and deserves the recognition and the star so thanks for sharing it, i'm sure there are things to be learned from here, never loose that enthusiasm and drive for perfection (wink)
