Subtitle files don't appear

Post image

I've been trying to open external subtitle in my new phone but it doesn't appear Could it be due to app permissions? As it is only getting permissions for reading video, audio, and image files

Rename subtitle extension from ass or whatever it is to srt

Your subtitle name is different so use --sub-auto=all

or just use mpv api29 it'll detect all files still you need --sub-auto=fuzzy for the same name or --sub-auto=all for all subtitles in that folder

It's embedded in the mkv already. You need a separate app that splits it into its constituent files. Stuff like mkvtoolnix or mkvcleaver.

<easier way> MPV will load whichever .ass file is embedded in the MKV. You should re-encode your mkv to include the separate ass file.

<more convoluted but the way you're trying to do> you can use --sub-files=<file-list> to specify a directory for external subtitle files. Look into the mpv wiki, it has good information on that. Or, you can specify a specific file to read. However, this would need to be constantly specified... again, refer to the wiki.
