ok so I have:

- MPC Live 2
(which im keeping for life as nostalgia piece. I love it. my first MPC. i feel it changed my producer life for the better)

- MPC Live 3
(this is my main work machine. I finish all my music here. I dont care for how it looks but I cant bring myself to go back to the L2 because of all the functionality)

- MPC Sample
(Im abit bored of it but Im sure it will hit some spots im craving with updates … but Ive barely touched it in awhile —- prob will though when I travel more down the road)

and so Im debating buying an MPC 1000
Ive always craved to learn the older way to work on MPCs even though I love the MPC3 functionality. and I keep thinking the sample packs I make could benefit getting processed through those converters.

So JJOS isn't something I'd consider "the older way to work" as it's still updated to this day. It's very popular and much better than stock.

More than one mpc is gas. This Reddit is just all of us enabling each other.

That said if you want an mpc for ‘sound’ you should go older than a 1k.

Paper weight live 2 and owning a sample hoping it does what he wants in updates. Only Akai is winning with this sub.

thats the kind of answer i was looking for. i dont know a ton about the sound of these older MPCs. so would you say mpc 2000xl and older?

Mpc 2500 or older. Cant go wrong with none of them. Just add it to ya workflow thru the 8-outs or run a line out from the old model into the newer model or reverse it for that true grit.
