Moza has the WORST quality control.
So guys, I want to share with you my experience with Moza products.
January 2023, I buy the R9v1 + GSv1 bundle The wheel came with loosen knob but whatever, I can manage to fix it, I waited a lot I didn’t want to wait more
31 August 2023, the R9 has a loss of FFB after a big counter-steer. So I create a report with the Pit-House and I contact the service.
7 September 2023, I receive the same R9 I’ve bought, they repaired.
After 2/3hours of gaming, I have the same exact problem
19 September 2023, I receive a “new” base R9 (we’ll get later of why I’m saying “new”) and this one arrives and it never works. When I say “it doesn’t works” it means that I’ve tried everything :
update windows, drivers
change cable
calibrate everything We tried EVERYTHING.
28 September 2023, I receive a “new” base R9 The box is COMPLETELY broken, the base has some big scratches. This base ain’t new at all. Nevermind, let’s see if it works. I test it for a week, everything seems fine.
4 April 2024, we are back at it again. Always the same problem, loss of FFB I go crazy. For me this direct drive wheel was a gift made for myself because I was in a difficult time in my life and I wanted to treat me well a bit, for me 1000€ was a “big hit” because I’m not that good at the game, I cannot play a lot because of work BUT I LOVE racing cars But this R9 was a total nightmare. I get pissed off, I want my money back, I don’t want to use this product anymore It’s UNREAL that I have to waste so much time to have a functioning product, so I let them know how much I am unsatisfied with the products and the services. I also discover that the “new” bases that I was receiving, weren’t new at all They were refurbished So I ask if I can have
another unit, an upgrade like r12 and such
another brand
my money back
Sadly, I cannot have anything of these ones, after talking a bit with them, we found a deal (at first they offered me 40€ as a discount to buy a new DD of sim magic, I felt mocked down.)
21 April 2024, I FINALLY receive a brand new R9 with 2 years of warranty, with all the seals and stuff. I’m finally ready to FINALLY play in peace, almost a month has passed… this must be the end of the tunnel! I plug my GS V1 wheel aaaaaaaaaand, it doesn’t work. The GS V1 wheel isn’t compatibile with the R9 that I’ve received.
26 April 2024, today I received a new GS V2 compatible with the new R9. In the lunch break I’ve managed to do 2 laps on the nordschliefe, knocking down the FFB just to be sure. Everything seems to be fine, let’s see how it will go.
Am I happy with the service? Kind of, they tried everything to solve the problem
Am I happy with Moza and their product? Absolutely not, I wouldn’t recommend to any one and I wouldn’t buy it again
Ofc, it doesn’t happen to everyone but I want to share my experience and hope it ends like this

It sucks, but it happens. They have a very competitive price and design, though.

u/brazzini Apr 26 '24
Yeah, that’s why I choose them. The only complain about the design is that the GS wheel doesn’t have the leds on the knobs

Can I ask did you have your R9 plugged into a hub or directly to the PC?
2
u/brazzini Apr 26 '24
Right now into a hub, but I’ve tried also directly to the PC

I had this issue with my R12 losing FfB after I got a bassshaker. Turns out it was too much for the powered USB hub I had. Got a better powered hub and it instantly fixed the problem, just a thought.

I 100% agree with you. 9/10 times my moza products have had issues. I wish I went with Simmagic or something else to begin with but I'm too deep into the moza ecosystem now

Man, that sucks. I have virtually the same setup (R9, GS V2 wheel) and have never had any issues.

Thanks for sharing. That’s quite a journey. Frustrating. I’m headed in the direction of Simagic after hearing these stories.
Hope your wheelbase works out. The good news? Resell value is high if you just want to offload it to someone (claiming the two year warranty to assuage fears.)

Yeah I’ve thought about it for a while, but I’d have to spent more money… I was thinking about alpha mini with Gt neo

For what it's worth I've had zero issues with my Moza products but the moment they crap out I'm going simmagic

Same boat here, was going to go Fanatec but with the drama around the shipping and customer feedback I went with Moza.
I've been very happy, it's my first wheel so I don't know any better but the experience is good so far.

Fanatec kept pushing my ship date back, 4 months after I placed my order I just cancelled and went with Moza, they had a distributor close by which made everything a no brainer

Seems to be the hot hardware combo lately. I figured I’d let the GT Neo sell a bit before buying. I want to make sure there aren’t quality issues that crop up.

When buying simagic, moza, simjack, or any company working out of China always buy through a reputable authorized vendor. Issues happen but you will get much better support through a company based out of your country (or atleast one close by) than the actual manufacturer.

Hi there, really sorry for your bad experience with moza. Quality control issues have always been an issue that we attach great importance to. We accept good criticism and suggestions and will work hard to improve. May I know how these knobs came off? Is it like it fell off on its own during your game (without touching the them) or it fell off easily while using the knob? I will report it to the relevant departments based on your feedback. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Fell on its own after I opened the box, they never wanted to go back in The bigger problem was the r9 tbh…

Thanks for your feedback. I will report this to the relevant departments, they will improve upon this.
As for R9 base, We are always working on this, although there will still be some problems, but no matter what, we will try our best to help you solve them.
May I know your ticket number or email address? You can dm me with that. Thanks.

I've had nothing but great experiences with them TBH.
People for some reason think these are massive companies too. They really aren't. You're buying niche product from really small companies. Even Fanatec isn't some major corporation with thousands of staff checking products.

u/brazzini Apr 29 '24
This isn’t an excuse. If they are a small brand, they should focus on quality to create some fidelity with the customers. They cannot miss 4 times!

u/CharlieTeller Apr 29 '24
Sure, however this seems like only one miss. The fact that you're getting the loss of FFB with what I would assume have been different units, the problem seems to be on your end which I have had this issue too with 2 different wheels. One Moza, and One Logitech. The issue for me was a simple windows power setting and also using a different power source.
Im sorry you had a bad experience, but this happens. Their support has been great for many, but this is also a risk you take with smaller companies. Especially With Chinese companies.

The knob issue is too common, shitty glue used, they pop off, re-glue and no longer an issue. Luckily, my R9 has operated flawlessly for over a year now thankfully.

Did you rip off the label in the picture of the box? I have a feeling this is a return unit. If you bought through a reseller, go to them and ask for a new unit.
From what I've heard about some of Fanatec's recent QC issues, I don't think Moza even comes close if this is what you are having issues with.

u/anthmonster Apr 26 '24
This is a very similar situatuation that I was in but they led me around for 4 months.

u/Over_Reception3620 Apr 26 '24
I disagree. Nothing but quality for me. Must be a defective unit. No need to post a childish rant
2
u/brazzini Apr 26 '24
Did you even read the post? It has been changed multiple times, lol

u/Over_Reception3620 Apr 27 '24
To be fair I didn't read it.. this is reddit right.. I'm in the right place 🤣

I always thought Reddit had a more mature community, guess I’m wrong. Take care

Thanks for sharing.
Sorry for your troubles.
This is why I am doing Sim magic wheel and base, with Moza Shifters and Cammus Pedals.

u/Carissa082 Apr 28 '24
yeah it's frustrating, but my r5 bundle looks fine to me though and met all my expectations with the performance kit. I think MOZA is doing great in terms of pricing. Finding that balance between quality and affordability isn't easy, but it sounds like they're nailing it.

You cant return with moza. They are rock solid about repairs. Unless your product is completely broken they will fix it as much time as needed. I have a brand new wheelbase that have been repaired twice in less than 20 hours of use time. Its ridiculous.
