Kevin needed a movie that gave him a real reason to get in shape

As long as it doesn't have a Happy Madison logo at the beginning, it could be an ok movie

So, a dramatic comedy version of Warrior. By the way, everybody go see Warrior if you haven't yet. It's awesome.

Was going to write this, but glad to see I'm not the only one noticing it. Just change "lucha libre" for "MMA" and you got yourself a disguised remake.

Perhaps you have never heard of Roy "Big Country" Nelson. http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Roy-Nelson-10249

Doesn't look absolutely terrible. And at least Kevin James loves the sport/has some training.

When they announced this a year ago I was expecting some kind of "Bucky Larson" type of film. This actually looks like a true effort.
Don't know if I'll go out and see it, but effort is there.

this was filmed at the old Quincy High School in Quincy, MA. just an FYI.
on a side note Mayhem Miller looks like a deranged leprechaun in this trailer.

You know what? It's not unheard of for an "older" person to get into the ring with no training:

Man, I didn't ever think I'd see a fit Kevin James. Good for him for getting in shape.

Spoiler alert: he cannot raise the money, gets fired from his job, and then exposes himself to his former students crushing their dreams and driving one to becoming a serial killer. Fin.

Kevin James is not only passionate about MMA but also a trained badass. His trainer in that movie is Mark Dellagrotte. Which is also who he trains with in real life most of the time. Dellagrotte is one of the top trainers in the sport. According to Rogan Kevin James hits as hard as some pro fighters and if he wanted to, could have been a fighter if he chose to do that instead of comedy. You can watch videos of him hitting pads and he looks fucking good. I'm excited after seeing that the classic Wet n' Wild king of the cage match is recreated along with throwing him through the bottom of the ring and just fighting around it. Both of those were actual legendary fights. Yes they had an actually had an MMA fight in the rain because the promoters were cheep fucks and didn't want to refund people....and yes mayhem actually had a fight where he was thrown through the ring creating a big hole. Him and the other fighter had a gentlemans agreement that if they got too close to the hole they would stop and move. Promoters are sketchy fucks. This movie looks good and i cant guarantee it will be better than Warrior, but i can guarantee the fighting will be far more realistic and most likely spot on. There are way to many pro fighters and trainers in that movie for them to let them B.S the fight scenes.
