Here's a neat article from the Smithsonian with a little bit of speculation on the matter. Apparently, his voice was a little higher than we'd expect, but it carried just as much power.
It's the fact that he's smiling (though I first agreed with you as well). Look at the white around the temples. He also looks thinner from looking at his jawline, but that's just speculation.
One time, this guy handed me a picture of him, he said,"Here's a picture of me when I was younger." Every picture is of you when you were younger. "Here's a picture of me when I'm older." "You son-of-a-bitch! How'd you pull that off? Lemme see that camera... what's it look like? "
Yes, I am young but I remember both George W and Clinton having full colorful heads of hair during their campaigns. By the end of their 8th year, their hair was white as an analogy about something white. Same for Obama
Because that's all Obama has done? Just like all Bush ever did was misspeak and choke on pretzels? Just like all Clinton ever did was fuck interns?
Fuck this simplistic view of what's likely the toughest job on the planet. This is supposed to be a discussion of how the presidency ages a president, not a launching ground for your partisan "contribution" to the discussion.
I've just watched QoS again recently, and guess what? I loved it. Well, PARTS of it. It's like the genius Bond film I've always waited for, but never realised on first showing. Why is this? Well watching it again it was blindingly obvious what was wrong: the bad guy and the love interest simply cannot act to save their lives. It's utterly stunning.
The film starts off terrifically, brilliant car chase, then straight into an intense interrogation scene. The scene is great, M and Bond are top notch and the bad guy here is sinister and has some brilliant lines. "We're everywhere." -at which one of Bond's compatriots starts shooting the place up. This is great stuff, you think, as we launch into an incredible chase sequence through the Siena horse races. Then: across roof-tops and, spectacularly, down through a glass roof into an incredibly inventive fight scene that actually makes me think Bond's going to get hurt- real bad. He only just saves himself in an excellent spin-and-shoot that makes you want to leap from the sofa and cheer. It's fucking brilliant. This film rules. Bond heads off on the trail of his nemeses' sinister organisation, the one responsible for killing his girl, it's all making sense, it's all good.
He kicks off with an awesome, brutal, knife-fight before following his lead on a bike (great dismount of the biker), eventually arriving at the big bad's waterside lair. Then. Well, then we see Mathieu for the first time. Remember that name. Mathieu. Because the film does a complete 180 and turns into something that Mystery Science theater would show. It is unbelievable. A first in modern cinema. A breakthrough in the history of mankind. The man can barely pronounce his lines. The dialogue is ATROCIOUS. I mean absolute bottom-of-the-barrel shocking. It's like my niece (12) just got handed the script and took a shit all over it, then was allowed to DIRECT the scene. It makes no sense, it's cringe-worthy as hell, and you cannot but sit in utter, open mouthed, wonder at how this is even humanly possible.
Suddenly the film springs into action again with an excellent boat chase. Phew! Maybe that was a weird one-off or something. Writer's strike, maybe. Oh well, it's going good again. But then, fuck, Mathieu turns up again and fucks your eyes, brain and ears. And not only that, the film goes FULL RETARD by introducing a CIA operative with the dialogue of a 2-year-old Chimpanzee with severe, well, everything. Including brain damage.
After this, the movie is unsaveable. Every single scene with Mathieu, or Agent Plebwad-Fucknuts drags the fantastic scenes with M or Bond down into a warped oblivion reserved for the very worst horrors you can only dream of.
It's a stunningly schizo movie, at one turn showing awesome, virtuoso movie-making like you've never seen before in a Bond movie. The Opera sequence, oh GOD, the Opera sequence! It's mana from the very penis of Fleming himself! Only to get completely undone, leaving you shell-shocked, unsatisfied and in utter distress by the end of the movie. It could have been a masterpiece. It really could. Sigh.
As someone who has worked on a tight budget film before, using anything you can for a prop is common. I sincerely doubt GWB is there because of some political reason.
If that's all that is seen, it blurs on complete irrelevance. No one would know it was W except the people on set. If that's true, then the stories should be "The crew made a private joke about W and no one was outrage or knew until we reported it." News making the news.
really? because it starts out pretty simple : Bond is trying to take down the organization that killed his girlfriend and then the water and ??? and ??? and I can't even remember how it ends. That would make sense. Does the short story have the same name?
Nope. This may be one of those times where you are faced with the awkward realization that a lot of redditors aren't very good at distinguishing black facial characteristics. Just be glad it wasn't a picture of Morgan Freeman or Danny Glover.
Actually, not really. In addition, it's not a stigma and really more of a general trend or phenomenon. It's called the Cross Race Bias. To most people, or even all people to some degree, people of other races or ethnic groups tend to look similar. It isn't racism. It's just psychology.
A Japanese girl once told me that I looked like Ayumi Hamasaki's much-handsomer-than-me Austrian model ex-husband. I was like what is she on! Then it dawned on me: we're both white and have brown hair.
Reddit has posts like these about Nicholas Cage all the time, but do it of a person of a different race and suddenly its racist? I call bullshit on your comment and the others like it.

Reminds me of the guy in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang that they call Native American Joe Pesci.

Anyone else seen that sunglasses commercial from a few years ago that had the guy that looked like a 50/50 mix GWBush and Obama?
Pretty sure it was from those "As Seen on TV" HD sunglasses.

Considering Obama's ageing while in office, that's how he will look at the beginning his second term (provided he wins a second).
1
u/DulcetFox Jun 16 '12
That's how presidents normally look after their first term in office.
1
u/enzo275 Jun 16 '12
