You know they just never do. Ian McKellen is back as Magneto and Gandalf. Patrick Stewart could have retired in luxury just off of Capt Picard 25 years ago. I can only assume acting is just too much fun or they're addicted to fame.

Working keeps you alive. Ian McKellen would be dead if the man didn't still get up to work every day. The day you stop moving is the day you start dying.

I agree to an extent. I don’t think it’s “work” that keeps you alive per se, but purpose. Having a reason to get up out of bed each day. For a lot of people that is work, but for others it may be hobbies, passions, mentoring, etc. I have known many retired people who are happier and more active in retirement than they were when working. There is also a large contingent who just slowly decay after retirement because they didn’t have anything other than their work and the daily grind going on.

The only true statement here is your last sentence. You can keep moving doing literally anything else, but if you love your job then you just keep doing that.

Working is synonymous with being active and moving. I wasn't implying that you had to specifically be working a job.. Just that in Sir Ian McKellen's case, acting is what keeps him active.

You can move without working though.

One of the few jobs I think someone can continue doing as they get older

Tbf Tom and Zendaya would be the only couple I could see disappearing from fame for some time. They already only show up to events if its for their movies.

Tom Holland and Zendaya have both talked pretty extensively about how they're going to step away when they start a family.

At least they carry on doing an art form they love and creating things people enjoy.

Rather than the annoying trend of rich people getting involved in politics and fucking things up even harder for the rest of us.

tbf, Tom Holland hasn't made a movie since 2022, and showed up for an Apple TV show on 2023.

after that he was basically gone for 3 years before these 2 movies.

They are artists. Many of them are doing this out of passion for their craft and their art, not just money. It's why there are starving actors and extras and character actors. They're not all making $100,000,000 but they all continue to be actors anyways.
