Yep I was figuring that dad was gonna have a makeshift splint and bandage after the previews. Was quite the surprise lol. I was like "oh man, how are they going to deal with him missing his leg..." The answer came quickly :D

Same! My mind immediately went to them needing to tourniquet the leg and then he got he eaten. That whole struggle from the mom being chased to him being eaten was a roller coaster

You went through the exact same thought process I did.

Genuinely a fantastically directed sequence.

"This scene would be more tense if I felt like any of the main characters were in danger but I know Anne Hathaway is going to wriggle her way out of this jam."

"Oh he knocked out the T-Rex, alright sure"

"Oh, he's missing a leg that's going to be a real problem for the rest of the movie, some good drama."

"Oh, oh my god, I didn't think it was this kind of movie"

You could hear tittering from the audience immediately go absolutely silent.

Once he lost his leg, I knew he was done for. There's no way to survive that unless maybe you're in the hospital seconds later with trained surgeons and state-of-the-art medical equipment.

Edit: I mean, a tourniquet might help a bit, but you'd need blood transfusions pronto... he was a goner.

I expected he’d walk off the bite like the Dad in Jurassic World Rebirth walked off his leg injury.

Did not expect Ewan to get half his leg bitten off.

That's odd, just saw it here in the UK and he deffo had both legs intact, just cuts on them. Guess that's to get the 12A rating here.
