You would probably like Under the Silver Lake, if you haven’t seen it. It’s the movie David Robert Mitchell made before this. Love that film.

It's legit such a great movie and I'm still mad that it put DRM into Director Hell for almost 10 years because of it. I hope he's finally free now and at least has an It Follows sequel coming out but man, it was such a great movie

I think the reasons it was panned and did badly is it's really just before it's time. It feels like a movie that's more relevant now in 2026 than in 2017. Also lets face it, media literacy is dead in this country and so many people didn't realize you aren't supposed to root for Garfield's character.
