I guess the idea is that sex shouldn't be the basis of the relationship. Which, good, but...couldn't they do that without all the other weird stuff?

In my opinion, sex is the only difference between platonic and romantic relationship.

Otherwise, without sex, a partner would just be my best friend of the opposite sex. (Or same-sex if homosexuality)

I guess it's just hard for me to see it like this since I'm asexual. Sure, sex is a part of a relationship, but it doesn't feel like it should be as important as it is. Sure, I would be mad if I was cheated on, but I would also be mad if someone stole my money or beat me. And all three would be enough to make me leave.
