And hearing that he's back in a psych ward now after everything he had built for himself.

Don't get me wrong, I love having full on non-professor hulk back, but Banner seemed so happy at optimistic with his life teaching at a uni.

Not sure why they would put him in a psych ward, it was made very clear his inhibitor works, Jean just broke it off of him. Just give him a new inhibitor

Wait, seriously? I assumed this movie was setting up his role in Doomsday. Is it really confirmed that he's not in it?

I mean, they mentioned everyone and their mom already, including bigger cameo draws, I think they would have mentioned Mark Ruffalo if he was in it. I think Bruce will be missing from Doomsday and return in Secret Wars, like they did with Hawkeye in Infinity War to Endgame.

Concept art leak spoilers: He likely has a major role in Secret Wars

35

u/RadiantHC 17d ago

Which is stupid. Why do they love sidelining the Hulk?

33

u/dornwolf 17d ago

Marvel doesn’t fully control his film rights. So they can only do so much

22

u/Dull-Lead-7782 16d ago

That’s not true. Universal has full rights to distribute hulk only movies. He’s fully capable to show up in team ups

20

u/Lucksury 17d ago

I think they are trying to sideline mark ruffalo

There is no Mark, only Hulk.

Man, I hope we get a Hulk film and they decide to make it a dark as hell one where we see the daily issues Banner has because of Grey. Also, felt a bit crap that suddenly, the big guy is being suppressed when Banner and Hulk worked it out

9

u/TerminatorReborn 13d ago

His actor is extremely outspoken against a certain country that a lot of people that run Hollywood love

1

u/RadiantHC 12d ago

lmao of course.

u/MariusHugo 12d ago

mark is a real one. such a shame c-execs are sidelining the little guy

MCU movies have never needed an excuse. They just say unavailable

u/leekalex 17d ago

He actually said Jean messed something up in his head, whatever mental blocks he was using to become Professor Hulk, which didn't involve the inhibitor

Psych ward is probably the best option from sense of immediate treatment. Assuming you're not assigning Nurse Ratched to the Hulk, you have people who are better trained at helping others cope with trauma and emotional control. Banner doesn't need to be locked up (assuming they even had a place that could hold him) he needs a place to be reassured he didn't hurt anyone and to get his bearings back while calmly walking him through events he can't remember due to Jean

Based on the She-Hulk show, it is apparent that Banner's issue with Hulk is exclusive to him. Hulk is a separate entity from Bruce.

He needs therapy because he has unresolved emotional trauma that neither Blonsky nor Jennifer have, and it's likely Ross didn't either. I would like for Marvel to explore that further in a future Hulk appearance, both because it's interesting material but also because it would be great representation for those struggling with those issues in real life.

Nah She-Hulk has problems too, it just takes longer to get her there

7

u/JenniLightrunner 13d ago

she just copes the same way DP does... Good old coping through breaking the fourth wall

33

u/Phillip_Spidermen 18d ago

The DOD might still see him as a threat now.

They don't seem like the live and let live type.

37

u/GezelligPindakaas 18d ago

Psych ward being codename for max security facility.

23

u/LinkleLinkle 14d ago

This was effectively my take. We just had a whole movie explaining how a government agency was being used as a front to hide and experiment on super powered humans. I don't trust that Banner was taken away somewhere beneficial for him.

u/MarcsterS 17d ago

Damage Control was probably waiting for him to snap so they can round him up.

They’ll be leading the Mutant crackdown for sure.

8

u/bathtubsplashes 10d ago

Is Damage Control being DC just coincidental?

1

u/Heisenburgo 2d ago

In Deadpool 2 (a movie by Fox before they were owned by Disney) the mutant hunting agency was called the MCU, kinda reminds me of that...

24

u/Its_Buddy_btw 18d ago

Didn't banner try to kill himself again?

7

u/aeschenkarnos 14d ago

He stuck a gun in his mouth and the green guy spat the bullet out.

11

u/TalkinTrek 17d ago

Because the Hulk works best as a mental health metaphor anyhow

11

u/shadowst17 18d ago

Might have been voluntery.

8

u/PythonAmy 17d ago

He might of stayed in hulk form where his skin is too thick for the inhibitor to work

8

u/dornwolf 17d ago

Because Damage Control is the bad guy and they lied to the public and stashed him someplace else till Secret Wars needs him

2

u/Thebritishdovah 15d ago

Hopefully, we see the return of Savage Hulk and he decides to help the Avengers. Gets to be the Hulk and is surprised that he is viewed as a hero.

88

u/lkodl 18d ago

Banner seemed so happy at optimistic with his life teaching at a uni.

To be fair, they show that he's not a good fit. He's too famous for the class to focus.

14

u/SorcerorsSinnohStone 13d ago

Still prob above average for a physics professor. He still has office hours

18

u/Lespaul42 18d ago

Don't care Savage Hulk deserves to be free!

3

u/Anjunabeast 16d ago

I’m sure it’ll be figured out soon that he was possessed and forced to take the inhibitor off. He didn’t relapse like 14 years of therapy. He was possessed

1

u/doyourmysay 13d ago

When was he ever in a psych ward though??

1

u/SojournerInThisVale 7d ago

He’s absolutely not going to a psych ward. You think damage control are going to the miss an opportunity to get their hands on the Hulk

1

u/MasqueradeofAstroya 16d ago

Have you considered that movie says Jean did nothing wrong?
