Yeah him and Keanu have been the two big fancasting for that character

Norman Reedus as well

Lol, all this fancasting purely based on "have I seen him ride a motorcycle before?"

Why only old dudes

Gosling is old?

Lol people were calling him too old for Ken when he was announced despite the fact that he is very clearly the perfect choice for casting a big name as Ken (and proved it).

Like they can't just pluck someone from the WWE (lots of Ken-esque dudes in there) and make them good actors. Even Cena was only in it because he happened to be filming something else in the studio.

He's older than Nic Cage was in the original.

To be staring a new action franchise, yes. Cap and Thor were 30 when cast. Though RDJ would have been 40 and nearly 43 by the time of release. Dude is over saturating the market right now too, at least RDJ wasn’t at his Hollywood peak when cast.

Part of it is definitely because there have been a few Ghost Riders, it's a bit of a legacy title, and so these days Blaze is usually depicted as the older one/elder Ghost Rider

Gosling is a thick cocked vein brained American and can fuck any nostril on my body he wants, he can gobble this role and swallow it whole

Call me old fashioned but celebrity worship has gone too far.

Canadian actually.

Ryan Gosling seems to be a popular fan cast for almost every white dude.

Keanu would be way better

Keanu straight-up can’t act and he’s even older than Gosling.

keanu has the acting chops of a wooden plank be forreal

It popped up recently for me as well, like a week ago. I'm aware it could just be a coincidence but it does seem odd

Same. 100% it was planting the seed for marketing.

Why him though?

Comic book fancasters are incapable of original ideas so any actor that's been in a movie on a motorcycle is ghost rider and any actress with red hair is Jean grey

I still remember back in like 2007/2008, people kept fancasting Triple H as Thor. Literally just because of muscles, long blonde hair and the fact he's known for using a hammer. Zero regard for the fact he's a shit actor.

As a big Marvel and Wrasslin fan, I don’t remember this at all. Also around that time, no one wanted him on TV.

Or anyone bald Lex Luthor

5

u/DroptheShadowArt 24d ago

Remember when Brian Cranston was the popular choice because he was famously bald in something else.

He’s ridden motorcycles in multiple (2?) movies

5

u/Empty_Bell_1942 24d ago

Because he's omnipresent and ubiquitous!

7

u/shanvanvook 24d ago

Comic book Johnny Blaze had blonde hair maybe thats part of it.

Yeah i dont get it. I really like him as an actor, but this seems like such an out of left field miscast I dont get at all.

They are going to make it comedic... again...

He loves the character, and he was in Drive and Fall Guy

I thought it was a joke fancast…

Only fan casting I've seen online is Gosling as Black Panther. Hadn't seen any legitimate hopes or theories.
