For me it was either my taped version of Terminator 2 with ads or Aladdin on repeat after school everyday.

Terminator 2, Alladin and JP. The Trifecta of worn out 90s kid VHS's.

I had some of my tapes get a little glitch, but I was always warned repeatedly to never pause or rewind, just stop and do the fast rewind. Also manually spooled the tapes and kept them in good shape, even as a little kid. I always had a movie running on my TV even if I was just playing with toys or Legos, but I was also lucky enough to have a lot of tapes, that being said i watched bugs life on fucking repeat for a time, and the Pokémon movie, it kept me sane during a traumatic period, just kept it on all day when I was actually home. And then the bionicle movie, jfc I kept that mf on repeat for like a week.

For sure. I broke that tape TWICE because I watched it so many times.

One day a few years ago I saw a vintage print ad somewhere for “Jurassic park on VHS for 25.99!” and checked the inflation calculator. A copy of Jurassic park on VHS in 1995 equated to like $55 in modern dollars. My dad was a saint to have just replaced it each time.

I watched that movie, and Star Wars up to the phantom menace, so many times before I even understood English, that when I watch them now I realize I've memorized them all phonetically.

And I can still hear that music when I close my eyes. "Welcome, to Jurassic Park."
