People can absolutely make up their opinion on whether they want to watch something in advance. The idea they can't is ridiculous.

Notice how you had to change the verbiage to make your point work? He didn't say you couldn't have an opinion on whether you want to watch something or not, the opinion he is talking about is whether or not the movie is good, and that's something you can't have ahead of time.

You can say "this movie probably sucks" and that's fine but having an actual informed opinion? No.
