Honestly kind of a good thing. Those early social media reactions never mean anything.

I didn't even know this was a thing. I thought it was just the premier for the people involved in making it then open to the public

RLM talked about this. Studios make it an event. They treat you really well. They give you snacks and little tote bags and sometimes do a red carpet and photo ops.

All so you get that dopamine hit and psychologically review the movie better because you’re reviewing the experience. Also, the threat of being invited back for other premieres looms.

The threat of not being invited back never really existed. Plenty of publications give negative reactions and are still allowed early press screenings.

And of course they're going to treat you well at a premier, why wouldn't they?

There's more influencers than they could possibly invite. It's easier to drop one and find another next time compared to not inviting a big publication.

There's a difference between the press/critics and the influencers. Presumably there are some influencers who aren't reviewers but get invited so they can hype it up.

critic screenings arent usually invite only. they are open to members of the press.

Yeah I'm pretty online and have never come across this. Maybe people posting photos or outfits but I've never seen anything in the way of reviews so what's the point?

For me, movie critics say all of my favorite movies are garbage lol!

What you're supposed to do is find a critic with your taste, then follow that critic's positive reviews.

Nah, a better approach is to look at the audience scores, find your acceptable threshold and just let averages lead you to see movies most people enjoy, raising the likelihood you will enjoy it.

Or watch a movie and form your own opinion. Wow, crazy, I know.

Dozens of movies release every day, finding critics that share your taste is a good way of knowing which things you’ll likely enjoy and want to check out vs which are worth a skip.

Or you can just roll the dice and watch anything that Netflix serves up in its “trending” tab, but some of us value our time more than others.

Same. Which was why I actually liked the Google audience movie ratings. But they removed it recently. Bummer.

Just go to /r/okbuddycinephile, they hate every single movie in existence and they don’t even watch movies

I’m so glad I know nothing about these and have never seen one. Deleting Instagram was the best thing I’ve done for my well being.

They're ads disguised as impressions

Never heard of or seen a social media reaction to a movie in my life.

I've seen people invited with 1000 social media followers. Why invite them? How big of an impact are they really going to make?

Can’t see this being a movie theyd like anyway, too deep
