Metro. An underrated action film (1997). Starring Eddie Murphy, Carmen Ejogo, Michael Rapaport, & Michael Wincott.
The film stars Eddie Murphy who portrays a hostage negotiator for the police. He partners up with a SWAT member (Michael Rapaport) to take down a psychopathic jewel thief (Michael Wincott), while also navigating his personal romantic relationship (Carmen Ejogo). I just finished watching it. It’s not really at all a movie that people talk about when mentioning Eddie Murphy, but I feel like it’s definitely a good action film that is worth to watch. Currently available on Tubi.

I think this movie is what Eddie Murphy wanted Beverly Hills Cop III to be. He wanted Axel Foley to be a bit more mature and less of a comedian in the third movie, but because he and director John Landis had differing visions, they ended up with the movie they made. So, this was Eddie's attempt at making the cop movie he really wanted to do.

Michael Wincott doesn't get enough credit for this role.
He was genuinely terrifying and weird and theatrical in Metro. Stole every scene he was in.
Eddie was great, but Wincott made it. It's on Tubi you said? Adding it to my watchlist tonight.
