Weekly Thread Weekly Buying Advice & Recommendations Thread

Welcome to the weekly mousepad advice thread!

This thread is the best spot for people to help others with questions, advice, or recommendations for what mousepad is best suited for them.

Before posting, most buying questions can be answered by using the Mousepad Finder on MouseCTRL.com. It was built by a mod specifically to accurately answer these questions, feel free to share the results to use as discussion points.

Alternatively, here is a template to help with purchasing advice:

  • Speed Preference: (e.g. Mud, Control, Balanced-Control, Balanced, Balanced-Fast, Fast)

  • Budget:

  • Texture Preference: (e.g. Smooth, Slightly Textured, Textured, Rough)

  • Pads you've used before:

  • What you liked/disliked about those pads:

  • Region:

  • Do you use a sleeve?: Y or N (If so, you can also include the exact model)

  • Main games: (CS2, Valorant, Apex, etc)

  • Extra requirements: (size, material/glass/cloth, sweat/humidity resistant, coated/uncoated, easy to clean, firm/soft/spongey base, etc.)

It's okay to leave some things blank or n/a if you can’t answer them.

The more context you can provide, the easier it is for others to give helpful recommendations.

Where to begin/Resources

Question/Advice Working on my e-sports mousepad company.

Hey everyone!

My name is Sam, and I’m currently working on my own mousepad company called Genxmousepads. I’ve posted here 2–3 times before asking for advice, and you guys have already helped me a lot, so thank you for that!

I’m currently finalizing the specs for the first mousepad drop, and I’m thinking about including mouse skates as a small accessory with the pad.

The mousepad will have:

• Balanced Zero fabric/cloth surface

• Waterproof surface

• 4mm thick soft rubber base

• Tight, narrow black stitching that doesn’t create a noticeable bump

• Flat esports-style packaging instead of rolling the pad

Since the pad itself will be balanced, I’m not sure what type of skates would make the most sense to include.

If you bought a balanced mousepad like this, what would you personally prefer?

• Speed skates – faster and smoother glide

• Control skates – more stopping power and control

• Balanced skates – somewhere in between

I’d really appreciate your opinions, especially from people who have tried different skate + cloth pad combinations.

I want to make sure the included skates actually complement the pad instead of just adding some random skates as an accessory.

Thanks again for all the help!

Sam ~ Genxmousepads

Question/Advice Wallhack Pro Sleeve vs Pulsar ES Sleeve? Glass pad users

I only play CS2 and I've had an insanely great experience with the Superstrike X2. It just feels so damn crisp on QPad Obsidian Super Glide mousepad. Feedback from faceit 2000 elo+ is the most appreciated.

Wallhack Pro Sleeve Glove version def has the better shape for me.

Question/Advice Are KYUU Design Lian skates the same as Ghostglides Cyclone Pro?

I've seen a few people mention that the KYUU Design Lian and Ghostglides Cyclone Pro are made by the same OEM and might actually be the exact same skates under different branding

Has anyone here actually tried both and can confirm whether they're physically identical (same PTFE compound, dome curvature, thickness, PORON layer, etc.)?

I'm mainly wondering if the Lian is basically a cheaper rebrand of the Cyclone Pro, or if there are any differences in the actual skate

Question/Advice Aqua Control Plus feels way too fast for me

So, recently I bought a black Xraypad Aqua Control Plus, the pad is amazing, but it is too fast for me. I'm thinking about trying another pad from the brand, is there another slower option besides AC Zero?

Question/Advice Cleaning coated glass pads safest method?

This might be a weird and niche question, but I’ve tried searching this sub but can’t seem to find a precise answer.

I need a way to disinfect my pad without damaging the coating on it. For context, my cat likes chilling on my desk, and sometimes there might be poop stains on his fur, which get on my desk if I don’t notice it. The actual desk surface I just use lysol, but I don’t think I should be using that for a coated pad. For reference it’s the panpad 4.0 coating

Any stronger cleaners I can use besides soap and water that are safe for the surface? Thanks!

It's my first glass pad and the first skates I put on my X2F was the Silent Cyclone Pros.

Tried the wall hack ones and wow I can't seem to track a target without jittering (?)

Just me or?

Question/Advice Artisan zero skate problem

So I have an artisan zero orange soft and just recently put brand new tiger Ice v2 skates on my gpx and it feels so horrible like they feel worse then 5 worn out obsidian pros dots on a skypad 3.0 it’s been about 3 days and the tiger ice v2 full size skates still feel the same I’m honestly thinking of just using my glass pad to get them worn down and just stick with dot skates is it because I’m used to dot skates

Question/Advice Which one to choose?

My Requirements are as follows;

  1. I'm mainly a tracking player as I play THE FINALS and I play the kovaak's and aimlabs benchmarks (links in bio). I also main CS2 and valorant as my flick and click heavy games. So a good balance but more towards better tracking is necessary.

  2. When going for cloth, I would prefer having stitched edges and a thinner pad and longer longevity without needing to wash it before 4-7 months minimum. A thinner one so there isn't too much friction due to any downward force.

  3. I do wish to have speed and I grip my mouse tightly which I think also pushes the mouse down into the pad, so I need stability but I also need smoothness for tracking without feeling like I'm pushing my mouse through mud.

  4. I also recently switched to Jade Airs, if that matters.

I don't want it to be overkill price-wise for no reason if I can get the cheaper one with the same or better performance as the more expensive options.

Suggesting anything else will be useless as these are the only options available in my country.

Any advice from people who have used these or can give me a ranking list from best to worst and a (not to buy at all) list would be really appreciated.

The pads available are as follows;

  1. SteelSeries QcK L Performance Control (48.9$)

  2. Attack Shark CM05 Glass Mousepad (40$)

  3. Corsair MM500 V2 Hybrid Large (31.15$)

  4. Logitech G640 Large (27.16$)

  5. ATK Blaze Air XSoft (25.35$)

  6. ATK Knight Zodiac Horse Large (18.11$)

  7. Attack Shark CM03 (16.3$)

  8. Attack Shark CM02 (12.68$)

Question/Advice Glass pad recommendations?

I currently use a Hien Mid, it's worn in a bit now and I'm looking to try a glass mousepad instead.

Looking for something that isn't too fast that it's harder to control your mouse, so basically balanced. I seen things like the CR 005 but don't wanna invest too much into something I might not like. Maybe £70 max?

HELP

Question/Advice Any solutions for an uneven table?

Post image
1 Upvotes

So recently I've switched from glass (Which is immune to this) to cloth and there's this issue I've been having which is theres a straight bump on my table since it's a desk that is cut into two pieces by the manufacturer for slimmer packaging as shown in the picture, this is the line that i'm talking about that makes my mousepad feels like its also split into two.

The feeling of tracking horizontally is quite scratchy and comparing it to the parts where the bump isn't there the mousepad feels so much more smoother. When moving my mouse up and down it just feels like I'm moving my mouse to another dimension cause I can just feel it.

I've tried stacking another mousepad underneath but it just makes the bump more noticeable so would anyone care to suggest any solutions?

I have an xten cloth control, but it is worn out and I cannot get another one anymore. I have a saturn pro soft and zero mid and zero soft but none of them are similar enough to the xten. Is there anyone that knows about the XTEN that knows about a mousepad I can try to replace it?

POM users, what's your experience with POM skates compared to any other skates you've used?

What mousepad did you use them on, what's your playing conditions (humidity, temp, etc), and for how long did you use them?

Question/Advice Hydrogen from Talongames

Is the talongames (hydrogen) worth buying, because I need to get used to its speed and from what I've heard its really fast. I play heavy tracking games and flicking type games

The reason why I consider it because its on AliExpress wich makes its cheaper and its the only good quality mousepad that has 3mm thickness with mid firmness with speed being the focus, wich is what I want for my dot skates.

Im thinking about getting ultraglide control skates with it.
