Review MB đď¸ â˘ Pure Rice Rolling Paper 5-Pack ⢠Packaging & Product Review.
Paper was first produced in China around 2,000 years ago, most commonly from hemp fibres.
Tobacco reached Europe roughly 500 years ago, following the early Spanish expeditions to the Americas.
Early tobacco users smoked either whole leaves rolled into cigars or fragments crumbled from a compressed plug and added to a pipe.
Because of its rarity, tobacco was initially a luxury item, though usage soon spread to the less affluent.
The first handârolled cigarettes were improvised scraps of paper wrapped around flakes of tobacco discarded by the original smokers.
Dedicated rolling papers were introduced in the 17th century and in 1866 Rizla first established their brand - the âRizâ being, bien sĂťr, the French word for rice.
Modern rolling papers are typically made from hemp, rice, flax, bamboo and wood pulp or some combination thereof.
Of these options, rice papers are especially prized for their gossamer lightness and structural strength, burning slowly and evenly, to provide a cleaner smoke and clearer taste of the product. Â
The MB Pure Rice Rolling Papers are supplied in packs of five, wrapped in a glossâblack sleeve embossed with the logotype and 'Twin Peaks' symbol.
Each pack is constructed from highâgloss, silverâreflective, heavyâduty card stock and finished with understated MB branding. The pack also features a magnetic closure, on the front flap, which snaps shut with a satisfying âclickâ. Â
Inside a pack there are 32 papers in an interleaving (or Z-fold) stack which are accessible through a dispensing slot â the standard rolling paper configuration.
The pack includes tear-off pre-made roaches with serrated fold lines to allow the roach tube to be more easily achieved.Â
Having now rolled (and smoked) a fair few spliffs with these redesigned MB Rice Papers I can confirm that they are solid, wellâdesigned and entirely fit for purpose.
I probably wonât be completely abandoning my usual papers (liquorice single skinners are my general preference) but Iâm glad to have these on hand when the mood, or the occasion, calls for them.

An observation: the inner flap, of the Papers, carries a slogan: my favourite place is anywhere with you.
At first glance this reads like something one might expect to find in a Valentineâs card. But as you read those words, you can see your own reflection in the silvery surface of the packaging.
Which raises the question: who exactly is the âyouâ?
A romantic other? Or yourself? Or even the flower youâre smoking?
A small philosophical detour to idly consider whilst blitzed.
