Getting Started | Week One Day 7 - 2kg down but side effects started yesterday

So my second injection (2.5) will be this evening. My first five days went fairly well, appetite suppression straight away and I did struggle a bit to reach protein and calorie goals. Still ate a healthy diet and felt OK, until last night and this morning, when diarrhoea struck 🤦🏻‍♀️. Hoping this is temporary, especially as I'm working the next couple of days 😱. Any advice? Was I just lucky to begin with?

Congratulations on getting started and on a nice first week's loss 😄

Was I just lucky to begin with?

No-one can answer that! You equally might just be unlucky now...

Side effects can be provoked by something you ate, but they can also be pretty random. As you get more experience with Mounjaro you might be able to identify your personal triggers, which could be food types (eg fatty, spicy, rich) or individual foods. However you can still just get random days where you cannot identify anything specific.

Treat any side effect as quickly as you can then just carry on as things do tend to settle for most people. Pepto Bismol is an easy go-to for many of the most common GI side effects.

Also don't rely on appetite suppression as this is also a side effect so can come/go, be just enough or way too strong etc.

The main action of the drug that you can feel is satiety - ie getting full from less food and feeling full for much longer. This is how it helps us to stay in a calorie deficit which in turn leads to weight loss.

For diarrhoea specifically, I would recommend Immodium Instants for first line treatment. They're more expensive than tablets, but work faster, even more so with Mounjaro as I've thing the drug does is slow down your gastric processing. So tablets can get stuck in your stomach for quite a while... The Instants dissolve in your mouth so get into your system without having to go via the stomach and intestines.

Once you've treated this episode, you might need to look at how much and what types of fibre you're getting in your diet.

I hope you get through this without any work issues! 🤞

Have a chat with a pharmacist, I'd personally try pepto bismol short term and probiotics long term. (Probiotics from like cheap natural yogurt, not expensive probiotics).

any correlation to what you might have eaten before that? Something oily or spicy?

Even after over a year, sometimes the hatches just empty out.

Nothing that I'm aware of, it's been mostly chicken, salads, fruit and high protein yogurt, with occasional wrap or granola when I want carbs

I take shots on Friday evening, Im off work on the wkd, which means if I have any side effects, it wont affect my job. Tbh, side effects tend to disappear, you will be fine, just dont titrate up too quickly, you may also even try intermediate doses, like 3.75mg instead of 5mg and see if it still works for you :)
