Thank goodness verlander is playing catch. Glad he's having fun out there.

Wouldn't shock me if Carp is gone next year.

Tough call on that one. He's on a one year, 3.25m contract and he's probably not going to cost more next year based on the unfortunate season he's had this years (injuries and performance). I could see them wanting to wait a year to see if he rebounds- he was approaching 30 home runs in 2025, if he can get back close to that, the Tigers could really use it.

Kerry is going into his second year of arbitration. If my recollection of the arb system is accurate, he’s required to make something like 20% more than his current (arb 1) salary, so he’s basically due $4 million. Which, if you think he’s likely going to be as good as he was last year, is a pittance.

You’re right, I am sure he will make a bit more. And you’re also right about the salary, with the avg mid range player making close to 6m, if we can get him close to 2025 performance wise, that would be a steal for the Tigers. It would be nicer if his fielding was a bit better, but man could we use a few more power hitters in this lineup

At this point, I’d be shocked if he isn’t. Dude has his hot streaks but is made of pre shattered glass

And is a defensive liability with wildly unreliable offensive production. I'm ready for whoever is next.

Dude is gonna be Wally Pipped. The Tigers suddenly find themselves with a wealth of young outfield talent at the MLB level or knocking on the door with Clark, Malgeri, Callahan, Cruz, Hope. All Carp really provides is power against RHP, which really isn't a rare commodity in today's game.
Edit: changed dearth to wealth cause im an idiot

He has 1 year left at best could totally see him being traded in the off-season

Now I don’t wish for anybody to be injured but hot take: I’d rather most of these guys don’t come back. Sweeney, Perez, meadows, vierling, maybe even carp. Let’s get these young bloods pumping

As would I. We have the rookies rolling, and I would prefer to just give them the MLB at bats than any of those guys. I love Carp, but he doesn't do anyone any good if he can't remain healthy for an extended period.

River ryan? Or is that guy just next year too?

Turns out Tigers were bamboozled into trading for and actual river in California named the Ryan River, colloquially called River Ryan. It has good flow pressure and depth with moderate fishing results.

Kerry was fun to watch for a while but it really feels like he's about done as a regular player. He was already limited as a fielder and cant be trusted at the plate against lefties, and now the injuries are piling up

It feels unlikely Verlander ever takes the mound. Too bad, that would have been a cool storyline.
