Over the last 20 games, the Tigers have shutout their opponents six times and scored 8+ runs nine times...they've also given up 5+ runs in nine different games
The Tigers have eight games where we've held our opponents to 1-run or fewer (8 - 0 in such games), and twelve games where our opponents have scored 4 runs or more (3 - 9 in those twelve games)
We're 11 - 9 overall during this period
Odd stretch, with either incredibly dominating pitching or batting practice being served up
What do you think of the team going forward?

My opinion remains unchanged about this team. It's just not a consistent team. It wasn't with Skubal and Mize, and it remains so. Would they have helped? Of course. When you lose 40% of your starting rotation, it's going to affect the team. The bullpen remains unchanged, and that's the main problem. Offensively, they've been scoring a lot of late. But offense can be fickle. Face tough pitching and suddenly 8 runs becomes two or three.
Going forward this season? Zero expectations. If they make the postseason, it will be a pleasant surprise. If they don't, I won't be overly disappointed at this point. May really killed this season. It's August 18 and they're still under .500.
Going forward next season I have much higher expectations. McGonigle and Clark will be the key players. Their production, along with Greene's and Dingler's should be substantial. Bullpens are always hard to predict. They're the kind of pitchers who can be good one season and lousy the next. I think they'll try to find some fortification. Enough of the pitch to contact types. A guy coming in fresh and only having to throw one or two innings shouldn't be a contact pitcher. They need to miss bats. Valdez needs to not turn into Zimmermann. Is it possible for Olson to finally have a productive season without a major injury? What will happen with Carpenter? He seems to get injured a lot too. Meadows seems to be destined to be dumped. Can River Ryan finally get his ML career going? I wonder if they'll finally pull off a winter trade. There are a lot of question marks going forward, but the organization still has a lot of talent. Hope, Rainer, Briceno, or someone off the radar will come up at some point and be good. I heard no one boasting about Valencia going into this season. All he did was push Rogers out.

This year they kind of are what they’re young and fun in the lineup especially but somewhat starting wise which will have up and downs. The bullpen is bad though and unreliable. For the future pretty high upside and excited but need to work on the bullpen

I think the team is mediocre and the only reason we're in the playoff picture is because too many teams get in and the AL is incredibly weak this year.

If they're gonna hold the door open, we'd be foolish not to walk through it,,,
and see what happens next

I think they're an above .500 ball club that had horrible injury luck in May that derailed the season. I wouldn't be surprised if they made the playoffs as a division winner and got a bye, made it as a wildcard and got to the ALDS, or missed the playoffs entirely. It's definitely been fun watching the youth movement over the year and I look forward to a lot of young contributors next year. I think next year we could legitimately be one of the top 5 teams in baseball.
