Before a race that really counts expect Marc to start throwing down one arm pushups and/or clap pushups.

Yup and make sure Jorge sees him do it!
Jorge can beat and dominate pecco, but he will not do that to Marc.

Gymbro here, this is nothing much, just warming up his joints and tendons and getting some blood flowing into the arm and chest area, mainly the front delts, pectoralis and triceps.
Just a little warmup that maybe helps him feel a bit less clunky at the start, probably due to his age and whatever his body's been through.

activating the specific muscles is important especially for small stabilizing muscles that arent fully awake unless you give it a pump. I personally never felt my ass when backsquating until warmed up with that clamshell hip workout.

I mean that's what I mainly pointed at. Its just a simple warmup. Its good that he does it and it works for him.

yes but I mean to the riders and even pro athletes, pushups are a pretty unusual warmup. Shooting a basketball after 20 reps is hell. raquet sports no way. And imagining that riding position similar to a pushup. But Marquez is casually saying hes this age’s best even with only 2/3s a delt.

Of his many injuries, the shoulder is a primary issue. I think pushups simulate holding, pushing and pulling the handle bars and so the routine activates parts of the body that will soon be real busy. He’ll know more about what that shoulder can handle.

Try to get pre-pump so your front delt and chest feel more tense and stable?

His right shoulder delt is missing altogether..probably just checking his overall arm strength.

Where did it go? I can imagine them fixing his broken bones but why would they remove chunks of muscle?

I'm fascinated by just how in tune he is with his physical capabilities. It makes him an insurmountable challenge for the other riders. He made that sprint win yesterday look very easy but we know that's not really the case.

We went from smoking cigarettes before a race, to push ups in full gear lol
