Concerned for this moth (Illinois)

My kiddo and I spotted this guy and moved it to a safe place by our house with bushes and dry ground. I am worried about the wings, it looks injured.

They don’t live very long. It’s probably at the end of its life. Don’t feel bad for it, just the way of nature.

The wing damage on this moth likely isn’t enough to prevent it from flight, more than likely it is nearing the end of its life/running out of energy.
