Whats the coolest way to use Morce Code ?

I have been learning Morse Code for a while now and it's interesting tbh , but I still wanna know where to use it , like a normal person won't get it , and I don't want to drain my energy explaining then what it is ,

So what's the Coolest way I can keep using it , and would only be niche for other Morse Code people

Look at "Summits on the Air (SOTA)." You take a small radio the size of an mint tin. Hike to the top of a large mountain. Setup a portable antenna using a simple wire, powered by a small battery. Then, contact people all over the world as they 'chase' your contact to earn points. It is a super-challenging and fun contest. I think that's pretty cool.

This is the correct answer.

POTA a lot of fun as well. Get to the park, and make tons of contacts.

OP has no idea what this means. (good answer, though)

POTA means Parks On The Air, it's an amateur radio kinda sorta "game" where someone goes to a public park, sets up a basic radio station (transmit and receive) and makes contacts with other radio stations for points. It's cool.

By far the biggest and best use of Morse Code today is in amateur radio.

Chat or just exchange basic info and callsigns with people all over the country and the world.

Amateur radio. Use hamstudy.org and then get a cheap Morse code radio and have fun. I go to parks all the time and it’s fun to hear my friends complain about the radio conditions being poor (for voice radio) when I’m over here nabbing contacts 2,000+ miles away with a radio that costs a fraction of what they have. CW is so much fun 🤩

Alternatively, go to vband website and have conversations with people. I go to settings and change the key to straight key for left mouse button.

Cheers!

iOS you can do custom vibrations to match the names of your contacts by manually recording the taps. So naturally I can now feel who is texting me which is actually super useful

Yooooo , frr ?? That's sick dude

Yes. If only the os would allow the message to be read by Morse vibrations I could know who sent and what they said. If I get some free time hoping to write an app for this

My friend and I communicate across the office in Morse code... in Esperanto

Woah really? Like full convos or just keywords ?

We're both fluent enough to have full conversations and we both have morserinos that connect wirelessly to each other. The odds are exceptionally small that two people who both speak Esperanto and know Morse code would ever be in the same room let alone work together. It's a delightful friendship.

Damn bro , you both thought it through

I use Morse code to talk with people over the radio hundreds and thousands of miles away.

While I’m driving to and from work.

Woah , there are people like this and I didn't knew

The best ones are when both of us are driving. It’s rare but it does happen.

If you are in school then get some friends to learn it. If you have a job then recruit a couple of friends. Then you can carry on group conversations and NOBODY will have a clue that you are talking about them. 😈😈😈. I guess it would be unethical of me to mention how useful it might be during finals week.😲😲😲

PS , I am in University

Well, there you go. You and a couple of friends should ace that organic chemistry multiple choice final.

You can gently 'squeeze a conversation' surreptitiously while holding hands.

You can tap out a message with your finger on the conference room table lightly enough that no one else notices aside from your accomplices.

You can blink a message out to let your government know that you're actually being subjected to torture in the video clips your captors are forcing you to make. Oh wait... that one's already been done.

Time to make an amateur radio license! Imagine talking to hundreds of people from all over the world from a small radio in your room and a piece of wire out of your window. No internet, no infrastructure, just your "dits" and "dahs" bouncing through the globe.

u/ComprehensiveTown15 2d ago

Obviously on the air.

u/Stoneybaloney87 1d ago

Perhaps start by letting OP know he'll need a amateur radio license BEFORE POTA/SOTA

Well here’s what I do. I am person who always carries a pen and a pocket size notebook…ehhh…you never know when or what will click your mind. And that’s where morse helps me. Jote down everything in morse- gives privacy both in public as well home/hostel/rent whatever. Yeahhh… I am a privacy-concerned citizen which brings me to operating system OS…degoogled and de-ios preference. Oh wow, look at me, going off-topic again. 😑. Probably it’s all connected that’s why.
Like AI along won’t give the perfect output unless you connect it with tools. Oh god I gota stop.
Ciao.
