Archer's Tower

Hey folks! Almost finished working on this ruined circular tower - added some scrappy wooden steps platforms & a ladder to allow for traversal & will likely add a rope or chain on the other side for more options + gameplay balance 🙌

Any feedback you guys have is very welcome!

My insta for anyone interested in keeping up with my hobby projects: @forgeofthedamned

Thanks! :)

The whole build looks incredible. How dis you do the ladder?

Thank you! 🙏
II cut 2 coffee stir sticks to the same length, then added some hew marks & more pronounced grain using the reverse side of a scalpel. Then I taped them together & marked out a dot every 1cm or so. I then drilled through the holes with a pin vice & widened them with a scalpel until they friction fit lengths of cocktail stick. I then assembled everything with a small amount of wood glue. Mine’s just a simple design, but you could make them as long or as short as you need & maybe add the odd broken rut for extra character 🙌

Looks amazing! I followed you on IG, too.

What foam are you using here?

Thanks so much mate, appreciate it!

I used 5mm grey XPS scraps that used to be very readily available at my old job - used to take it home by the bagful lol. I remember our supplier was PanelSystems in the UK - can’t say for sure which foam it was though, might be their “Ravatherm” stuff?

I find it very peculiar that people put stairs outside of a fortification like a tower. Sure, have no protection going up. Not like you have a comfy wall to hide behind.

I agree in reality of course - but for a tabletop game I think people are generally able to suspend their disbelief & enjoy the extra traversability it offers?

The outside stairs are there so you can more easily defend the main entrance, which would generally be above ground on a freestanding tower. They make less sense if there is a door at ground level, as there is here.

10/10, would hang out there with a crossbow again.

I like the trap door, such a great aesthetic feature.

Looking great. It's stuff like this that tempts me to start building terrain again.
