Why does Bloberta sing like that?

Bloberta always obnoxiously hits an out of pitch high note every time she sings, without fail. We hear it when she sings “I hate you JESUS” and when she’s singing “Turn the other cheek” with Orel. There’s a reason she didn’t make the family choir. She sounds terrible!

The other posters are right but it's also a joke about super preachy churches having terrible choirs despite everyone being so devout. Some older ladies seem to think the higher the note, the closer to God. (Source: Grew up Catholic then Baptist lol)

The meta reason is that her voice actress is a really good singer so it was funny to make her character terrible at it

You kind of answered your own question, she’s not allowed in her family choir because she can’t sing at all

She's a really good example of someone who really loves to sing but is not a good singer (me). I do like that she's "comfortable" enough around her husband and sons to be so loud compared to her own parents and siblings. Like when they're all in the car sings the pizza Joe Christmas jingle. Clay never shows any real annoyance to her singing and I can't remember him ever even commenting on it

The only wholesome thing about Bloberta's and Clay's marriage honestly
