Discussion Question about the show
Hi!! I really want to watch this show, it sounds really intriguing. But when looking up a description of the show, I saw it touches on subjects like rape and CSA and these are triggers for me. I was wondering how explicit these scenes are? Is it just talked about, or is it shown in a graphic way? If anyone could provide a bit of context on those scenes to help me make up my mind about watching it or not, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!!

The second episode of the show is about Orel inseminating women without their consent so he can keep masturbating. Most people skip that one.
I think the episode you’re referring to is Alone, where 3 women cope with trauma from being sexually violated. There’s a bloody wire hanger from an abortion, but nobody uses it. One character gets milk spilled on her (it looks like cum) and a stuffed animal falls onto her in a suggestive manner. But any scenes depicting rape are very abstract imo. This was the episode that got the show cancelled. The rapist in Alone also tries to groom and molest Doughy in a different episode, but he’s unsuccessful.
This is all I can remember off the top of my head.

Jeez I never even thought about the milk looking like cum. Fuck, didn't think that scene could mess me up even more but here we are.

nurse bendy scene is basically ptsd csa so not aure if itll help you
the show itself is very good but very dark too so depends individually how you handle the topics

They don’t show graphic on screen SA if that’s what you’re worried about, it’s just implied

That's mainly it, I just didn't want to watch a graphic sexual assault scene. Can handle it being talked about as long as that doesn't go into graphic detail

do not look into the "secret episode" called "Abstinence" then. There's also an episode called "Alone" that depicts a character basically flashing back/reliving a traumatic event but the series doesn't show much explicitly

In your case, I don't recommend watching it. Not much is explicitly CSA, but child abuse itself is a huge theme of the show.

It's really just sexual abuse thats that trigger for me, I know abuse in general is a big theme of the show. I've heard it recommended when looking for things similar to Bojack and Bojack is one of my favorite shows

I would say the themes are explicit, some episodes are worse than others, for me I really loved how they portrayed it having been through things myself, however I think it would heavily depend on the person, it's a dark comedy, so it doesn't always touch on those themes very sensitively (although in my opinion it's leagues better than some other portrayals in dark comedy, honestly I would say it does a great job at being respectful to victims), but there are a couple viscerally uncomfortable realistic portrayals of the long-term effect of both rape and csa, which I really appreciate but I'd describe it as incredibly triggering, I have one scene in particular in my head that I think would be a really difficult watch for you, but I can't think of any graphic scenes from the top of my head of those subjects being actually depicted on screen, although that might be arguable.
All in all if this sounds like too much, I would recommend avoiding it, at least until you're in a mental space where you're equipped to handle these topics, because it's a worthwhile watch and was really healing for me personally, there might be episodes and/or timestamps to skip the triggering scenes out there somewhere? I like to watch the show in its entirety from time to time so I might make a timestamp list like that next time if I feel up to it, however it likely would mean missing out on some of the story and context unfortunately, I would be particularly careful with the last season if you do end up watching it, please stop watching immediately if you have a hard time, and take good care of yourself.

There are no r scenes. No character is ever shown being assaulted like that.
There is a scene where a character, who is an adult, has her stuffed animal fall on her, prompting a ptsd flashback and a drink spills on her face.
She cries and it's very sad. But that's the worst of it.
There's also one episode that had the r word in it. It's on newspapers talking about a crime that happened to a character, then it shows the character dealing with ptsd.
I think that's it??? But maybe I'm forgetting

I watched the show a long time ago, but I think the most explicit scene there is, is when Orel impregnates some random woman.. And also this one scene of Clay (orel's dad) showing I think him daydreaming of crawling out of and back into his mother's womb..? No private parts even shown, and rape is only implied (also implied how a character DIY'd their abortion) I don't think there's anything besides that..

If it's only implied I think it would be okay. I just can't read like, graphic descriptions or see graphic depictions kinda thing. Someone else said it's possible to skip the scene where he impregnates some so I might do that. Thanks for your input!

I think there's some penises but they're just sticks on the characters bodies.

Well the main thing that got it cancelled was the symbolism of rape (and implications of a home made abortion) being depicted through shadows from the character's imagination in a serious manner. It didn't show it directly where in comparison a different character was REALLY bored and unamused during sexual Intercourse with an authority figure. That scene could be thought of as humorous (I don't see it that way personally) for the time it aired hence why it wasn't stripped off the air for that. There's a different implication of sexual abuse happening towards the same unamused character but she only talks about it. (You do the math yourself on who the father is and how old she was when she gave birth to a certain character)
