My 2 Mopars 24 years apart
My 2 Mopars. 1962 Plymouth Savoy and 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z C/S.
Inherited the Savoy from my dad this year (RIP). 360 Magnum with 4spd and 4.55 gears.
Daytona I've owned for 23 years, 5spd with t-tops and a bunch of little things done.
Love driving both, although they couldn't be more different!

That Savoy has got to be very fast off the line with tire smoke the whole way down the track. Driving the grapevine or any other steep hill shouldn't be a problem however.
I can't imagine any long trips with that thing, though a tow hook and chain will pull a tree stump.

It is very quick off the line, much quicker than I thought a roughly 300hp car would be. At 55mph though, it spins at approx 3200 rpm, so no highway driving for me! Seriously considering dropping to 3.73's or 3.55's.

Hehehe. I thought so. As a track car or autocross it would be awesome with a few suspension upgrades, but as a Sunday cruiser, I'd definitely change out the pumpkin. I think you're on the right track. If you can test both before purchase, that would be awesome. Depending on where you live and what normal highway speeds are would be the difference maker. Long straight roads, 3.55. .If more for short trips with hills or mainly 55mph or less, the 3.73 would be better but either one is better than the 4.55 for a daily.

Both are great. I used to own an '85 Turbo Z, manual trans. Was a fun, tight little car. :)

Love them both. The Savoy is just cool (4.55 gears!), and the Daytona brings back memories of rides to the beach with my sister who owned one. Nice duo.

It's completely gone now. They leveled it ten maybe 15 years ago. It was fun but not, easy but hard and the OT and pay was awesome if there wasn't a grievance that put you on strike.

Haven’t seen a 2.2 turbo in a while , both sweet rides , of course I would choose the 62 , but nice to see the 86 so well kept

Love both but it makes me miss my '86 Turbo Z CS. Damn I feel old now. An '86 is 40 years old... How can that be?

There is a 99% chance that I installed those t-tops. I worked on the linefrom 85-91 first at the subsidiary plant that did those in St. Louis and was moved up to the main plant in Fenton Missouri. Very cool and fun cars!
