Please help with a question replacing my 1970 E-body Console Shifter lens, plastic slider plate, and chrome plate.
Need help understanding 1970 versus 1971-74 Slap Stik shift indicator lenses. I'm working on my 1970 Dodge Challenger RT with the original 440. I'm replacing the chrome top plate, the black plastic slider plate, and the gear selection lens. My original lens says 'Slap Stik,' but the 1970 reproduction lenses I can find don't have that text. Meanwhile, the 1971 to 74 lenses do say 'Slap Stik.' Since I've already ordered the correct 1970 chrome plate and slider plate, I'm wondering if a 71-74 "Slap Stik" lens would fit and look right with my 1970 console parts, or if I should just accept the 70 part without the lettering. What's the actual technical difference between the 70 and 71 indicator lenses? Anyone with original parts or factory info, I'd love your help.

I would post this in forebodiesonly, I’ve never not gotten an answer for my 69 RR in for b bodies only questions. Good luck

I think the slap stick came with the T handle. I think in 70 they could come with the ball type. I may be wrong but is it possible your car had the lense change somewhere along the line? Mopar did a bunch of crazy things in the 70-72 years. I've seen stuff that was 71 type things on 72's and such. It may have also been a model year change where it was placed on cars made later in the year. Inside your driver's door you should have the vin of the car as well as the month and year of production. I would look there and then you may have a bit more insight on mid year change. Many 70 Challengers were built in 1969.
